Do any of you know what your HS Athletic Budgets amount to, and how much the booster clubs contribute?

I can only speak in terms of baseball, but South Meck's BB budget is miniscule. However...the booster club's donations helps it a little; to a tune of $1,000,000 or something like that....add or subtract a 0 here or there.

It ain't easy to pay for a dome, cafe, luxury bus and personal shoe shiners

Hi Ya!!! Well, Lumberton's baseball budget is about nothing after a set of unis, socks, and balls. We have a baseball booster club that raises four or five grand a year and the coaches and players do a couple small fundraisers as well. I would guess the budget is around $10K with virtually none of it put in by the school.

How about this unique way of raising baseball funds!! The NNash baseball team is hosting a cookout and a COW PATTY bingo fundraiser tonight. If the cow craps on your number you win 1,000 dollars. I sure hope I have finished my hamburger before they let that cow loose. I am hoping for square # 79,80,81 or 82 so my wife and daughter will have more money to spend at the mall this weekend while I umpire.

In WSFC I think the number is nothing. But, uniforms and safety equipment are the schools responsability. I will say 99.9 of the budget is made though the gates. And seeing how that is ran an easy 10% is lost in the old no tracking bit. As for the booster club (everyone is ran different and has it's differant agendas) is more of an outside supporter of all sports. Helping were they can. The differant sports also does things to help thier team. School system will fix things fencing, painting ect. Not replace or buy new do fix. And if let's say the baseball team improved a field and was going to say rent it to a team for practice or games and use the money to improve further, then the school system steps in and takes the money. At Parkland I know two guys who built the girls softball field. I mean top to bottom. Fencing, lights, score board, cage even dugouts. They raised all the money and even gave some out of thier pocket. School system did zero. Now get this. They have to rent the field from the school system for travel team practice. A couple of years ago the system wa looking at having more control over booster clubs. Not sure where that ever went.

Administration run by Idiots in most cases

This is the worst kind of respect donors can be given!!!!! If I knew then what I know now I would have a lot more pennies in my bank account.

I am the President of Hickory Ridge Booster Club. We currently have money set aside for needs for the future. Much of our money will be going to travel expenses. According to our AD the spring cost the most due to amount teams traveling and number of games. We have already wrote a check for several thousand dollars toward travel. We expect to help cover ten to fifteen thousand this year for travel.

Many states have started paying to play. I heard in Ohio one district is $450.00 a sport.

It just like the thankless jobs coaches get. Many maintain their fields. Many because no one else will, some because if the system did it it would look worst than a pasture on game day. But, let an athlete become a little famous. They have their hand out in a heart beat or are taking credit.

Not all schools are permitted to have sport specific booster clubs...they prefer to get the money and spread to all programs. Very socialistic approach...hmmm, sounds rather familiar ...
