unusual to see a kid whose father played for the university of Hawaii and in the big leagues. this is true baseball royalty. Justin Jackson is not in any other kids league in NC. Not only because of his skills but because what his Father brings to the table. my guess is he chose Arizona State over a bunch of other schools no one else in NC could seriously going to.

I agree with your assessment about Justin, lefty, but ASU has lost some of it's lustre of years past. It still a great program, but so many others have risen to their level. The other thing you have to keep in mind about ASU specifically are the number of recruits they bring in...historically, it has been unbelievable.

I don't doubt that Justin will do well for them and it is cool that they will have the 1st player from NC that I can ever remember them signing....and I have been following them since the day my school played them with Bob Horner as a freshman.

    they got the Turtle

did not know that ASU Baseball (Coach Pat Murphy) had brought in Turtle Thomas as a top asst. & head recruiter. Thomas has quite a resume of coaching / recruiting in the southern US. ASU will probably build a fairly strong recruiting access to the SE US with Turtle on board.

Didn't ASU finish in 3rd place in the '05 CWS?

at one time, but it was for personal reasons. It had nothing to do with the program.

    Junior National Team

Justin was selected as one of 18 players from around the country to be a member of the U.S. Junior National this past week. The JNT open plays against Chinese Taipei in the World Championships next Tuesday in Cuba.

This has been a very successful summer for USA Baseabll as Team USA (minor leaguers) and the National Team (college) have both won Gold Medals.

Best of luck to Justin and the rest of the JNT in their pursuit of Gold.

    Dawgswood,

Thanks for mentioned it....I think the Youth National Team did win the Gold. Now all we have to do is get the major leaguers to take the World Baseball Classic seriously!
