I agree. Congratulations to Jason Wallace. I have seen him play a few times and he is a quality player. I have also noticed that Appalachian State has picked up several very good players in the past few years. Namely Wes Hobson, Trevor Mullins, Jason Rook, Jerood Faggart, Jake Faggart and now Wallace.
I believe ASU will be a much improved club in the future.

awesome news. Jason is a very solid player and it seems he really picked his game up over the summer with the Dirtbags. I wish him and Trevor the best up there at the ol alma mater. What exactly is going on up there in Boone? They certainly have never been known as a destination for top flight baseball players but the last several years ASU has picked up some great players.

Also good to see what looks like another Ragsdale fan on board. Now I wonder where Catlin Carter may end up - he and Brent O Berry are two other Tigers ( and Dirtbags) that should be garnering some recruiting attention.

    ASU

Kudos to the Mountaineers for heading in the right direction; they actually had a pretty promising year last year and the talent seems to keep flooding in.

The last 10+ years have been pretty bleak, but ASU did have a nice run in the 80s under Coach Morris. Now Watauga coach Pete Hardee had some impressive seasons in the early 80s and his teammate Jamie Harris was an academic All-American. But they did go from the penthouse to the outhouse in a hurry.

Helping recruiting has to be the new baseball stadium the school is building. It's supposed to be really nice. The school is also building a very large, state-of-the-art indoor training facility on the site of the current field. And, bottom line, Pollard must be one helluva a recruiter.

For many years, ASU chose not to be fully funded. One of the conditions of Coach Pollard accepting the position was the commitment from the school to support the program. They now use all of their allotted scholarships, monies are being spent on their program and Bubba is right...Pollard is a heckuva recruiter.

The only concern I had with the program was the recruitment of pitchers. It is not pitcher friendly due to the weather, forcing a tough away schedule. But Pollard has done a great job in overcoming that obstacle.

Coach Pollard IS a heckofa recruiter. He is also a very knowledgable coach....beyond his years in my opinion. Not to mention that he is one of the most respected pitching coaches around. To top all that......he is a genuinely nice guy. Just give him a few more years and he'll have the Mountaineer baseball machine roaring on all cylinders.:notworthy :notworthy

It seems like App State may be back on the right track, but I continue to be surprised that they evidently don't recruit the Asheville area. Or, are the Asheville area players not interested in playing there? It seems that some of these talented players that already have family ties and area ties to Appalachian would be ideal for helping to rebuild that program and bringing a lot of local interest back to the program.
