Lets Talk About The Other 07's

I think it would be good to hear about some of the 07 players that dont get alot of attention. Guys that have the ability to play at the next level that have kind of been overlooked. Please add some names for discussion.

07 Chad Womble Rocky Mount HS RHP He wins people. He beats very good teams. Chad can pitch. He is a kid that understands how to get guys out and throws hard enough to pitch at the next level.

07 Joe Wagstaff East Wake HS RHP Joe is a big kid with tons of upside. At 6'5 and around 220 he is smooth and has feel for three pitches. Last time I saw him he was a mid 80's guy. Joe is an outstanding student as well. Someone can step in and steal this guy before he explodes on the scene next spring and everyone is after him.

07 David Shambley Green Hope HS Cather SOLID. That sums up this kids game. Good arm consistent 2.05 2.1 consistently blocks well and understands the game. He can hit. He seems to always put the bat on the ball. Has not shown great power but will develop it. But he can hit good pitching. A he is a great young man , so humble and so respectfull. This kid can play.

07 Chris Luck South Granville HS INF OF RHP Luck is just talented period. At 6'3 and lean this kid has tons of upside. He can play 8 posistions on the field and has in HS. He is a mid to upper 80's guy with a ton of life on his fb and everything he throws moves a ton. He has tremendous power at the plate. He hit 8 bombs last year and 15 doubles. He is a legit 6.8 runner who is extremely athletic. Grades are an issue with Chris. He is looking for a 2 year school and has some offers from a couple right now. If your looking for a kid that can bring it from the hill , swing it bigtime and play multiple posistions better make a call soon. Several D-1 programs want him but the grades are just not there. Great kid just waited too long to get busy in the class room. He wont mind me posting this he is a son to me anyway Ive had him since he was 7.

07 Cale Rogers Southern Alamance HS LHP Cale is a kid that I got to see a couple of times against us last year. Also saw him a couple of times this summer at Impact showcase events at Wake and somewhere else I cant remember. This kid will help someone at the next level. He is a low 80's guy with good command of three pitches. He is a warrior on the hill. He will battle you. There is no doubt that someone can use a low 80's lefty that knows how to pitch and will work his butt off. I saw him twice in game situations last year as a JR and he is worth looking into coaches.

Thats a good start. I would like to see some of you post some more names here as well. I have a few more but I will wait and see if they show up here first.

 

Just to continue with some names

Preston Shuey- Big 1st B @ South Meck. Preston played behind two D1 players last year and finally forced the coach's hand with his hitting. This is a young man that I feel has not received the attention he deserves. He should have a monster year this season.

Doug Jones- 2nd B @ SM..one of my all time favorite players. He is literally and figuratively a "dirtbag".. Dives for balls, gets his uniform dirty after the 1st inning, has no ego, a complete teammate, good stick, strong arm and always looks like he is having the time of his life.

 

Jimmy Messer (08?) from south caldwell HS RHP, 3rd B, He is an outstanding pitcher that overwhelms hitters with breaking balls and off speed then brings a fastball in the upper 80's- 90. He can get it done in the big games as well. He is an excellent choice! Brad Chavis (07?) from south caldwell HS, Catcher, he is very good behind the plate with good arm speed. He blocks very well and can CRUSH the ball with the best of them. Josh Severt south caldwell HS, outfield, leadoff hitter, he has blistering speed and a great eye at the plate. doesn't hesitate on a good first pitch offering and always seems to be on base.

 

Two '07's come to mind...
Aaron Parnell SS S. Johnston... quality player, quality kid, quality family.

Matt Crump C Butler solid catcher, great teammate, keeps a dugout loose

There are others my son plays with that can go on this list (including him!) but these two guys have been a joy to watch this summer and fall with the DB's.
I know we're supposed to be talking about '07's, but I have to mention '08 Tyler Hanover. Any college coach that says he's too small to play at the next level doesn't know a base hit from a foul ball. Even if he can't ride all the rides at Six Flags... this kid can play!

 

The other 07's

Alex Hill, outfield at Vance High. He has made all conference every year since he was a freshman. Led conference in hitting as a sophomore and last year as a junior. Has been under the radar because high school teams hasn't won many games.

 

In the Asheville area,
look out for Papelow - good pitcher and hitter at A. C. Reynolds,
Matt Pruitt - good pitcher and all-around athlete at West Henderson
John Ramsey (C, 3B, and P) and Jon Wright (OF, P) at T. C. Roberson - both good hitters with slugging potential

 

You know, pirates, you are absolutely correct. I have never seen this kid play, but everywhere I go, I keep hearing his name. I've got to go watch this young man this year.

 

Daniel Coffey - '07 SCHS

South Caldwell will be loaded again this year from top to bottom, and will surely have at least 10 college players emerge from this crop. One to really watch for is Daniel Coffey - 3B. One of the best 3B around, a true pure hitter that can really blister the ball.

Seems to shine brighter against better pitching, and really rises to the occasion in big game situations. He was "Mr. Clutch" this past year for SC. This young man has exhibited good leadership qualities on and off the field. You can see he has a true passion for the game, and his work ethic proves it. He is also a great student, and a very fine person.

He will be a great college baseball player!

Hopewell Highs Mike Vaughn. Outstanding hitter, big with runners on base, glove work at first base has improved ten fold, on the hill he will be hard to handle with a good fast ball and very good breaking ball. Plus a very hard worker.
