How many girls from Butler were on the Cardinals team that won the 18U ASA National Title this summer........wait, I forgot, that title isn't worth anything.

There were 3 from Central Cabarrus, 2 from West Forsyth

    on yeah

great points of view. the school, community thing probably does & should win out when comparing. the accomplishment of taking girls from a limited geographic area and taking home the big prize is certainly a better TEAM memory for a lifetime. but TB certainly & w/o question is a major contributor to the success of most of the best HS teams, so in the end it's great to have both.

    polls

i looked at the polls, and not impressed. just because your name is on this list, doesnt mean you have a "top" organization. it just means that the few coaches who voted on this picked you to win. thats all. i guarentee that most who voted, have no ideal about how they were trained (heck, some of the teams on the list to vote for i had never heard of). some are right on the money, but by my count, the percentage correct is rather low.

    polls

Polls will never be 100%. They are only educated guesses by knowledgeable people. If polls were 100% accurate we wouldn't need playoffs.

    How accurate were the polls?

1A- 8 out of the top 10 made it to the 2nd round or beyond.
2A- 7 out of the top 10 made it to the 2nd round or beyond.
3A- 6 out of the top 10 made it to the 2nd round or beyond.
4A- 7 out of the top 10 made it to the 2nd round or beyond.

Of the 16 final four teams, only 3 "sleepers" made it that far. That is, they were never mentioned all season in the polls.

Although its not 100%, based on the above performance, I would accept the polls as a fair guage.

The main difference I see in HS 7 Travel ball is PASSION. Passion by the players & fans (MORE fans). You see a lot more fans at a HS game especially during the playoffs. I have been going to TB games for many years and have never seen as many people at a game as I did when KM & Enks played the last two years in the playoffs. Now during the regular season you did not see that many fans at most games. So you can not say there is more fan (community) support for a hs team.

other than parents of players, tell me how many fans are at game, hs and travel, I would almost say not many. So, IMO, there is no more passion in hs ball than tb except for the players & parents.

I've been reading this board for awhile and it's a great board. This is my first post and I just wanted to correct CanAm. KM played Enka this year in the palyoffs. The year before Enka lost before they got to KM. Thanks!

    polls

betterbatter, are you looking at the final team rankings or the coaches poll? coaches poll was way off, butler at 3rd, km 1st ( no brainer), north pitt wasnt even mentioned and pender only had an honorable mention. better look at the percentage that made it to the second round again, this is what we voted on. it was kinda like the tbr pick of the week for football. but in no way was this a TOP TEAM rating system for the state. just someones guess as to who would finish in top ten. this in no way equates to how one team trains their players vs another team. this was not considered at all.
this is what i'm arguing about. the final team rankings were based on how teams did in the state playoffs.

Homer PLEASE re read my post. I was talking about my teams and the non ASA nationals.
Hell I was one of the first to send congrats to Ray and his girls both on here (check my previous posts ) and in a personal e-mail. But the ASA nationals stand alone in both quality and quantity of teams.
so let me ask you. Do you think the AAU and NSA and any of the other Nats really have true national status. Please stop trying to bait people and stir the pot my friend.
    Ray
