    Freshman pitcher

Well, that was really the situation with my DD, they really have had no one else to pitch effectively on the team for the last 2 years, which was one of the reasons given that they kept her down last year as a sophomore and I have already heard rumors of them wanting to keep her down again this year as a Junior for the same reasons. (Don't know what is going to happen with that). But they will not have anyone coming up throught the MS ranks until next year when my DD is a senior and they will have freshman enter from the MS who is the current MS pitcher.

Unfortunately, if she does not play JV, she WILL NOT see any mound time on the Varsity no matter who we are playing. They pitched the same girl against our conference winners as they did against the school that was in last place. Just seems like trying to pad her numbers and make her look good instead of making an effective TEAM program.

    # of games

Oh about the 2 teams playing the same number of games. I don't know about your area, but there are a couple of schools in our conference that can't or don't field a JV team, so she has a little flexibility in adding some Varsity games to make up the difference.

    amazing

when you think about it, with all the TB being played now and pitching instuctors all around, it just seems like most MS's would have at least one decent pitcher, but that's not always the case. and not having a "decent" pitcher on a MS team can really make for some long days at the ole ball park.

on the other item about JV / Varsity teams in conferences, in our conference, all the schools have both.

If some schools in conf's don't have a JV, why couldn't arrangements be made to play each other in JV say 3 or 4 times per season instead of the standard 2 times? I'm assuming travel expense, umpires, other, etc. ??

If I'm a parent of a JV player and they only play about 6 games in a season, I would feel sort of short-changed.

The problem with Middle School is that the History teacher or Math teacher is usually the coach...limited knowledge of the game....Go Figure !!!!

This is just a question, if you do not have a good coach for MS why play it. Stick to travel ball.

I think that at the ms age, play as many games as you can, bad coaching or not, more reps ya get at the plate, better your gonna be. in theory that is. canam, remember the ms coach our dd's played for - not too good!!! but they came out ok.

    Middle School Great

That is the problem with our high school and not our middle school. Our middle school team is great, but then when they get to high school we can't hardley win with the same girls. Just seems funny to me. Same players diff. coaches. One wins and one doesn't. Seems like something is wrong there.

    sounds like

sounds like the MS coach needs to move up to be the HS coach next time it is open.

The coach wants it, but they won't get rid of the softball coach up at the hs. It's a girl sport so they don't care if we win or lose or who coaches as long as they have a coach. That's all that matters to them. It Sucks.
