We have heard this phrase many times about the recruiting process and I guess that the very top level players (and their families) do enjoy the "ride", just choosing from the best offers.
But with a kid that is being recruited and is considered, evidentally, just below those guys, it sure is a bumpy road!
Coaches call, say how much they love you and even say they are going to make an offer and then.....you don't hear from them. A couple weeks later they call back and start in again with same stuff.
I know this is how it works and most players and their families go through the same things we do... checking e-mails several times a day, son sneaking around at school (I think they have a death penalty at his school if they catch you using your phone) to check messages and/or calling coaches back that he can't get up with after school, listening when coaches call to the entire history of a school's baseball program, when what he really wants to hear is "we want you and here is our offer".
I'm sure when it's all over and he has signed it will be fun. But for now, this "ride" ain't like a ferris wheel... it's more like a roller coaster!
