I saw 8U listed on a travel ball thing. Do they hit off a pitching machine or is it coach pitch?

We have a group of girls that just turned 13 who played 8u together, but back then it was basically 4 local tournaments around the Charlotte area not what travel ball is today.

Why do you say it's insane???...tell all the Olympic Team Members that starting at an early age is insane...Michael Jordan didn't start shooting a basketball at the age of 15...Come on CanAmMan...early bird gets the worm !!! You and East Of Raleigh got a hang up about travel ball !!!! You've already made big Donny mad !!!! Guru

WHO is big Donny? Do I really care? I have nothing against travel ball , my DD played for many years & we had a great time. My only hangup on 8u would be how many girls can actually pitch. If it is coach pitch then I think that should be rec. ball.

I am with you on this one Jack. Playing travel ball at the age of 8 is just crazy for lack of a better word. Local rec ball at that age is so much better. You just have no idea what talent your players may have at that age. Or even desire for that matter. Mom, Dad save your money and take them on a great vacation. They will love you a lot more for it.

I still disagree with what you are saying there no difference in preparing for softball compared to anything else...what if you didn't start learning until you were 15..where would you be in life?? pretty ignorant ???..if people want to play fastpitch travel softball in lieu of a vaction that's there decision...if you want to spend your money on vacations that's your business...but don't try to say that my family will LOVE ME FOR IT !!!! I just spent a weekend with alot of people thats kids don't love their parents as much based on your comment......... GO FIgure !!!!!.... GURU

If you were experienced as much as you say you are on this subject then you would know that 8 & Under is coached pitched....8 & under has never been kid pitched, recent years the pitching machines have been introduced in certain tournaments such as the WFC State.....GURU.....
