    With the success of 2006 UNC baseball team,Carolina Cardinals (Chandler) softball team, a true love and great climate for ball, why can't there be a softball 8 plex like the one in Battle Creek MI ? A place for our kids and grandkids could play for years ; and host tornaments such as, college showcase, softball nationals, high school playoffs, college tournaments and a woodbat summer baseball league, so many possiblites to be a destination for softball teams from around the state and the country.

    Guru for governor.....a private company like DELL,that received millions of our tax dollars to come here, or a county/city that desires more tourism, any ideas????

    Nice double quad-plexs below

    From link on post.

    (Boasting more than 80 acres, this multi-use park features three full-sized baseball stadiums, including the 6,000 seat C.O. Brown Stadium; two quadra-plex softball diamonds, four sand volleyball courts; a playground and 12 shuffleboard courts. Over the years, Bailey Park has evolved into a facility with a reputation for hosting some of the finest baseball and softball tournaments in the country)

    Just in...

    Gaston County announced that they are in talks with a company that build replicas of big league ball parks scaled down to kid size. The cost of one of these complexes are in the 10's of millions. It ain't free to watch or play, but reasonable if we get what they promise. There's like a $2.50 admission charge and a $1 participant charge but you receive a token woth $1 at the consession stand.

    Gaston County has had a big push for USSSA baseball tourneys over the last couple of years. Putting them on any fields they can find...including taking fields built specifically for softball.

    Maybe these fields will see some softball time. At minimum...it'll get the baseball players off the softball fields and give them back to the girls.

    Here's the company's website - http://www.bigleaguedreams.com/

    Has anyone been to the new Catawba park in Morganton. That is a real nice place. 4 or 5 baseball fields, putting in 4 (I think) softball fields and more soccer fields. I guarantee that it didn't cost no 10's of millions of dollars to build. I know the guy that was in charge of the renovations of the concessions & other buildings & also know the company that did all the bleachers. It is a very nice place & would like to see something like that here.

    Cary NC....

    Not sure if all of you are aware of this, but....

    Baseball: CARY, NC TOWN COUNCIL AWARDS BID FOR CONSTRUCTION OF USA BASEBALL NATIONAL TRAINING FACILITY
    // Dave Fanucchi // June 14, 2005

    CARY, NC –With a bid award to T.A. Loving, the Cary Town Council has given a green light to the construction of the USA Baseball National Training Center, which is being built on 127 acres at Cary’s Thomas Brooks Park, located just a few miles west of HWY 55 off Green Level Church Road. The complex will feature three training fields, one signature field, retail space, a ticket booth, concessions, and restrooms and should be completed by the summer of 2007. USA Baseball selects and trains the Olympic Baseball Team and other USA amateur teams.

    USA Baseball’s national training center will join a number of other offerings at Cary’s Thomas Brooks Park, which opened in 2002 and currently includes a four-field softball complex with tower, two soccer fields, a playground, picnic facility, shelter with restrooms, and outdoor lighted basketball courts. “We think this is going to be one of the finest baseball training facilities in the country,” said USA Baseball President Mike Gaski. “When it’s all said and done, it will be something for the Town of Cary and USA Baseball to be very proud of.”
