I met this young man last Sunday. As we were watching some of our home video's, he was laughing and kidding about the old movies of myself, and my granddaughter Sheena. It was a joy to me to see a young man as sick as he is having fun and enjoying life. Grandma and myself pray that he will recover from this terrible disease. Our prayers are with him and the families involved.

    Cancer will not win

Cancer is a humbling ordeal. I walked off the State Championship Field a few years ago to find out my daughter, Bailey, had been admitted earlier in the day to Baptist Hospital with Leukemia. I am a proud man, but I must admit, it brought me to my knees. I feel for family and this young man as he struggles with the ultimate battle for life. Although cancer is bad, it has made my daughter into a very special person with a soft heart. On the field of play, she is a fierce competitor. Off the field, the kid has a strong Christian faith and a love to enjoy life and smile.
I have also had a player at Central that I had the fortunate opportunity to coach for one short season. Her name was Erin Hough and I met her thru God's grace. The first practice during warm-ups, the ball was thrown over her head. Due to going thru chemo, after her first few steps, Erin fell flat on her face. The earth stopped that day at practice for 25 young ladies. I truly believe we watched an angel on earth, rise to her knees to only fall face down in the infield dirt again. Needless to say she stood again, and went after the softball. It was a moment I will never forget. I made it my mission that year to win a State Title for Erin Hough. We won the States a few months later and celebrated on her death bed. We buried her two weeks after Raleigh. She was such a special person that we still recognize her each year by our players wearing a black sweatband on their left hand.
I have copied our school’s website where a story about Erin is posted.

We will keep this young man in our thoughts and prayers at Central Cabarrus HS.

I have an update Jeremy had a whole body scan done and find out that the rare Cancer (Germ Cell Tumor ) is only in one place in his chest ( Limpno ).His blood test is normal and the Cancer has not spread to any other part of his body. God does answer prayers. Thank all of ya'll for praying for him it helps and lets keep on praying that the Chemo and Radiation goes easy on him.
