Those who take on the tremendous responsibility of coach should be recognized as the expert and be allowed to make the decision on their own. The support of the administrator who has approved of them being in this position, should not be a question.

I totally agree with you. However, it doesn't always work that way.

    again a spin

repaeting this from previous to see if additional comments:
Want to add a slightly different spin on this topic since I posted it on both the baseball & softball forums.
The spin: Would a game absence for a personal trip (requested well in advance) be perceived differently for a girl (softball) vs. a boy (baseball)?

Let me ask you a ????...in general who gets the most respect when it comes to playing fields and upkeep on those fields.....boys or girls??? now excluding the big 4A schools where there are plenty of money that people have donated to keep the fields nice...Central Cabarrus, Butler,ETC.... just to name a few top quality schools.....exclude those particular schools....do you now know the answer ??? I would say that it shouldn't matter the gender of the person, but it would probably be that boys would get by with it easier....but just my thought !!!!.......Guru.......:dead-horse-fast2:

    OK

at our school the softball fd. is kept up as nice or nicer than the baseball fd. (might be because the asst. softball coach is the primary groundskeeper! for all the athletic fd's).
I agree that gender should not matter in these issues, just wondering what others thought about girls taking off for a personal fun trip & would miss a game due to the scheduling of the trip .

That's a BLESSING, because just about everywhere I go the baseball fields are immaculate ,and the girls field are grown up and unmanicured....have you seen the high tec. baseball complexes that are being built...The Ripken Experince....why doesn't Jenny Finch build a girls softball complex...or at least promote it....I know..... why don't I go ask her.....GURU....:blahblah1:
