    game of the week

Forget about it!! the Rockets should win this one in Asheville. Although this game will be much much closer than in round one in Taylorsville. The rockets do have speed and a very crushing defense. The cougars will be able to score more points in this one and hold the rockets to fewer than the previous go. other than three particular plays that i saw on film the cougars were dead even with reynolds on BOTH sides O and D. Central has been able to cut back on give aways and the D has found a way to get take aways. CJ Davis and Darius Spencer will be the key in this game. The win will come by way of a big play. ACR had three back in september... fumble recovery in the end zone, a long pass when defender fell, and long run late in the 4th with Central rallying.

    Sould be a Good One

I agree with your comments. The one factor that Alexander Central has going for them is they have grown as a team. Earlier in the season, they soemtimes did not respond well to adversity. Of late, they are more focused when they get a bad call or a turnover. Example, in the playoff game against High Point Central the Cougars played a horrible 3rd quarter only to play a great 4th quarter. One thing for certain, the fans will get to see two of the best defenses in the state.

    no doubt

no doubt the Cougars have a shot at winning this game.. with the turnovers they had in the game earlier in the year at taylorsville.. we were still in the game.. with a defense like we have this year you have a shot against anybody.. and with an offense that when they focus and dont play carelessly is one of the most dangerous offenses... this is gonna be a awesome game.. good luck to both teams but ya know im gonna be sittin on my boys side of the big BLUE n GOLD!

    Alexander wins 24-17

    Alexander wins 24 - 17
Alexander is now playing together as a team, and as a team they are a better team than Reynolds. Alexander's offense is now 2 dimensional, and there defense secondary has proved itself worthy on containing the outside run and the pass.

Who ever wins the Turn-over ratio, wins. (Alexander, without Turnovers and High Penalties, will beat Reynolds)

Alexander matchs up better defensivley than Reynolds. Reynolds cannot stop the cougars offense if the coaches bring the right game plan (last time playing like they were scared). On the flip side Alexander matchs up better defensively. They will not stop them from scoring (i'm not sure anyone can), but will slow them down, and keep it to 17 points.

-Winning football team must play field position, eat the clock, and make a few big plays, and NO turnovers - and they win

How good is Alexander - that depends on a lot of things. But, i will say this: I would bet Alexander has the best record of any nc state high school football team that has the same (or more) penalty yards and turn-over ratio.

    Two Great Defensive Teams

Having seen each team only once (playing Watauga), I'll say this ... the Alexander team that beat us Oct. 28 was better than the Reynolds team that beat us on Oct. 13. If one could select those 2 teams from those 2 dates, I'd say Alexander wins.

On the other hand, comparing both teams total body of work, it's hard to pick against a record like that of AC Reynolds ... They've put up a W every Friday night, even in games when they've played below par, and/or had good players missing w injuries.

The big "if" falls on Alexander's side of the ball. IF they keep their cool (ie. no personal foul penalties) in what will be a high stress situation, then they can win.

    Hows that for waffling ?

In any case, this will likely be a fantastic high school football game.

WRONG... look at every single stat from total and every single ranking system and you cannot put the Cougars over the Rockets. ACR has too much speed, too much experience and too much skill. Central has the best D-line without a doubt but too weak a linebacker with a converted safety, a sophmore and a several others that did not start at that respected position last year. Reynolds returned ALL of its front seven and most of DB's. Thats not to say that the Alexander is garbage... no no no... but you're right about the game planning. even the "scared" plan netted the most yards against the Rockets in the regular season

RIGHT... look at how many starters were out for ACR against Freedom and how poorly they played. Below par is beatable but is once in a lifetime, that time being against the Pats.
