Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.

Yeah ACR lost 62-41, and not to make excuses because heck they may have lost anyway, but our leading scorer was suspended for the game (undisclosed reasons). DJ Clement who scored 17 in our first game at Asheville, and averaged 18+ last year, not to mention he is our best returning ball handler as well. Also you can find ALL our scores (and most all NW4A scores) posted at our website after every game www.gobiggreen.net under the "basketball" button at the top of the page.

Thanks. I tried at biggreencountry.com but it was down. So you guys have a new home? That's cool. Since DJ is the best ball handler on the team is he having to run the offense? That could be really good for him in the long run even if it ends up detracting from scoring somewhat.

South Caldwell beat Foard by I think 12 points. Coach Windmiller has the boys playing very good right now. One thing about SC this year they are very deep with good players coming off the bench

Tony, to be honest this was McDowell's first true test of the season. Newton-Conover is projected by many to win the CVAC so without a doubt they are a pretty good team. The Red Devils are very athletic and can shoot the ball very well from outside.

As for some reason always the case, McDowell gets into early foul trouble. Petey Hausley got his second foul about four minutes into the game and the Red Devils took advantage racing out to a 28-12 lead after one period.
Coach Church put Petey back in at the beginning of the second quarter and he spearheaded the McDowell comeback along with a key 3 pointers by Chris Twitty and Terrence "Buggy" Kincaid's ability to drive to the basket and get to the line. McDowell was able to trim the lead down to seven at the half.

The Red Devils came out early in the second half and got a couple early baskets to pull the lead back out towards 10, then the McDowell defense really picked it up going from straight man to more of the half-court trap. We got the game down to as low as two points late in the third quarter. What ended up costing McDowell the game was two things...first the Red Devils came out at the start of the fourth quarter and put on a spurt of about eight points that basically wiped away all the effort McDowell used to trim the lead down to a few points. #32 for the Red Devils took a breakaway, scored and was fouled (intentional) by one of our guys. The second thing that cost the Titans was the woeful foul shooting. Don't know the exact stats, but I would bet we missed close to enough free throws to make up for the margin of defeat.

Overall the level of effort was there but we couldn't execute, especially at the foul line.

According to the Hickory paper, Buggy led with 26 points last night, Petey had 16 and Justin Dalton added 12 points.
