    A couple of thoughts:

1st - Those who can afford to spend tons of $ on the latest "NASA technology" as it was so eloquently stated earlier will be the same ones that can afford multiple bats. MOst of my players can't afford them and what little budget I have would cease to exist. To me it is about economics. Would I rather see wood, heck yes I would. Small ball is more fun to watch and coach than the long ball (BTW... I haven't had too many of them anyway). More action than you can imagine when executed well on both sides.

2nd - I dont think that Legion programs that are more scrapped for money these days could afford wood any better than a high school program, unless Daddy Warbucks is the front man, rather than Milburn Drysdale. Seriously though, I believe that levels below College will always have trouble with the switch until it is economically feasible.

3rd - I believe that if you can hit well with wood, you can hit well!! The same is not true with AL. We all know this though. AL bats have inflated averages and HR totals to the point the game is at a point of no return. We all realize the common people come to see offense. As pitchers get better, then hitters have to improve. Pitching can improve with training. Hitting does too, but the bat used can have the most immediate effect and change the game all too quickly.

    Just some food for thought!!

I believe that if all colleges and high schools went to wood, you would see the price of wood drop dramatically. You would see start up companies producing wood bats because of cheaper production costs than metal. Competition and greater production numbers will drive the prices down. Of course the tree huggers are gonna go nuts over this. It might take a 5 year environmental impact study.

As long as people will pay $300 - $400 per bat we won't see wood come back anytime soon.....

    website

    http://www.softball-bats.org/

i realize the heracy of posting softball on here but it happens. you go on the site and go to closeout bats. they were in there. this site changes quite often. so if they're not on there today check back in a week. or you can call the guys and see what they have at that time. a lot of time they will offer free shipping if you order more than $100 worth of stuff.

i've used the blem wood bats a lot. they look a little like bar room pool cues, but they still work. i've also used the blem aluminum bats and have never really seen anything major flaw. we got on of the new stealth bats and the only thing i could find was a paint chip. anyone ever had problems with blem bats or balls?
