    TB & showcase

seems that TB and showcase ball just by its very nature (the way it is organized / the system..... with no boundaries, liberal roster add-ons, guest players, etc) really invites this type of non-loyalty / team-jumping.

    agree?

    different looks

My DD is one that tends to fill in on other teams if our home team is not playing. She is totally loyal to her coach and teammates, but her filling in on other teams that usually do not play in the same sanctions allows her the opportunity to play other positions than the ones she plays on her regular team. If her home team is playing, then we will always play with them.

I has allowed coaches to see that she is more versatile than being a one position player that they may have seen when they came and watched her previously.

I don't think they are talking about players that fill in on other teams if their regular team is not playing. They are talking about the girls that quit one team & go to another and then another and then another and it just keeps going on & on.

I dont agree with players jumping from team to team but It does no good to have an unhappy player and parent on the team either. I feel more thought should go into the decision of which team to play for. Parents and players should ask questions of current and former players and parents to gain insite to that team and its coaches. The college coaches I know look at attitude and dedication as well as ability.
If it is a problem, the one sure way to fix it is if all sanctions lock the team roster for one year say from Jan 1st to Dec 31st.
    Just my thoughts, and :twocents:

agree dawgfan, this one action would cure many, many problems with travel ball. someone would have to think long and hard before trying to change teams.

Jack, how can you say that college players do not get paid. Are you trying to say that a kid getting a 100 thousand dollar scholarship is not getting paid. I am not saying pay kids to play, I just said if you did pay them, that they would be less chance that they would leave. Then Mom and Dad would not be broke.

And if they did get paid at the club level they would NOT be able to play college ball.

I was thinking the same thing!!! BUT, if we pay the parents and not the kids we could get around that.

TONY, 100 thousand dollar scholarship, does it really cost that much to go to WCU, ASU, ECU, USC Spartanburg. Maybe now USC, Tenn, UNC, DUKE and other big schools but not to many around here. How many girls, that you know, around here have been recruited for these big schools.

I will bet some money that when some girls leave a team the team is actually glad to be rid of the family.

100K? my daughter is going to a private college, 18,900.00 per year plus. know another going to unc - 9500.00 plus, and one going to duke - 19,000.00 plus. out of state kids pay more, and you rarely pay the asking price, grants, academic scholarships, etc., but we're talking about jumping teams, and i'd like to pose a question:

if you jump teams quite often, do you ever think about how your move affected the girls and the team you've left behind??? or does it even matter?? just curious.

here is another question for everyone.......

Has anyone taken the kids that jumps from team to team asside and asked her if it was her decision to leave or was she forced into going to another team.
