100K?? You just answered that one, add out of state tuition for a 4 year degree and there you go. I think if a player committs to a team for the spring and summer season that they should stick to it, unless the coach has told the kid things that were not true. If they quit in the middle of the season just to go to a better team then of course they have let people down. Ed, sounds like you have had a few quit some teams you have coached. LOL!! Chill Out its just a game.

Jack, Add up books, meals, housing, out of state tuition and see what you come up with. You only had to worry about 1. How bout helping out with these 3 that I have over here. Everybody wants to jump on the kids that switch teams, but nobody wants to help pay for there college education. Unless some of these coaches are going to pay for a college education, I say let them be Bitter if they want to. Life is to Short!!! Its easy to sit here and put kids down, but half of the people on this board do not know the situation of these kids. Everybody is not a business owner.

Actually, it is more than just a game. If it was just a game why would girls hop from team to team? Hopefully, girls are learning some life lessons along with learning the game of softball. When a girl continually lets her teammates who count on her down, her teammates will shun her. If she is taught to do this with no regard toward her fellow teammates then will she continue to be selfish and do the same things toward friends and coworkers in adulthood? Probably. When she depends on someone will they be there for her? Probably not. I agree that people should think seriously before they commit to a team. Commit as defined in the dictionary as a pledge, promise, involvement. I think it sends a definite "red flag" when a girl has been on every team in your surrounding area as someone to stay far away from.

Two semesters at WCU costs a little less than $12,000 (in state). Thats turn-key, on-campus housing, including a prescribed amount of spending money. ASU is a little higher, but not much.

Should have thought about that before ya had them, ya think!!!! Also, who said they have to go out of state to school, if ya can't afford it there are plenty of instate schools that don't cost 100K.

When did this thread turn from team jumping into paying for other siblings college? All this jumping is just normal everyday stuff. Look at the workforce today. How many people stay at a company for the persons work lifetime (I am talking for when they get there first job till they retire). Not very many. People change jobs as much as they change underwear.

I have not put down any kids, just want my question answered and here it is again, who's decision it is to leave the teams. Was is the kids or the PARENTS?

Now another question, is there a correlation between how many times a kid jumps from team to team and how many times a parent jumps from job to job?

why should the kids worry about what the college coaches think about team jumping. the coaches are just as bad in job jumping. you see a player commit to a coach and they are gone before they get there or leave during mid college career. and tb coaches may have a tryout the next year and move you on themselves because of who they want. but, i do think unless something bad happens, that if a player commits for the season for a tb team they should stick to it. maybe the coaches can give some rebate money to those that stay the whole year or best of all discounts on team fees for each year that you play.

thought about this, and no, never had anyone quit to go to another team in the middle of a year. girls will go to different teams in the fall, fact of life and understandable. we suffered more from the head coach bringing girls in for one tournament type thing. i glad to say that girls on our carolina fear teams and cv hit n run teams fulfilled their committments and played the year. some even flew down from their new homes in other states to make the tournaments, and thats committment.

have heard of this out west, called a committment fee - $500.00 up front for the year, play all year, get your deposit back plus interest. not a bad idea

owning your own business in these parts is no benefit right now. everyone is suffering from the economy. I thought this was just a general conversation about team jumping, but it looks like it has become personally offensive, and we dont need to go there.
