This is just a reminder to all the High School coaches. The deadline for turning in applications to the State Games office is January 5th. The coaches for the first East/West All-Star games and District tournaments will be chosen after that date. Please don't let that application form gather dust on your desk. If you want to be considered by the State Games and the NCFSCA, mail the application in as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected]

    Thanks coaches,

    Eddie "Pop" Rivers

If a high school coach is not a member of the NCFSCA, can he or she apply to be a coach in the allstar game? Also, can he or she nominate players?

I recently had a high school coach tell me that "no" is the answer to both questions. She said that softball is the only NC Allstar game set up that way. She went on to say that before a coach could apply or nominate a player, they had to pay $40.00. What's up with that?

The NCHSAA does not require coaches to be part of any other coaches association so why is it being required of softball in order to apply as a coach or nominate players

    Please verify what is true.

so, if the only applications you get are from two coaches in which their teams don't win a game they would be the coaches. Sounds real fair.

    Coaches?

I can assure you that is not the case. Applications to coach in the State Games are rolling in to the State Games offices daily. The selection process for All-Star coaches is going to be a very difficult one for the NCFSCA and the State Games officials.

Why not have the coaches of the state champions do it?

If they go through the application process, that could be a possibility. The State Games of North Carolina have an application process that must be adhered to for coaches and players. There are only four State Champion coaches. There is a possibility of 28 coaches needed for the All-Star games and the District Tournament. Some may have prior committments or family vacations. It is up to the coach to fill out the application for consideration.

Can JV High School (Piedmont, Monroe) and travel ball coaches (LB's 14's/16's) apply and be considered?

    Thanks.

I bet if you send in your dues (money, money, money) they may consider you, if you send in the right amount you may even get chosen:jump: :ylsuper:

So what your saying is the coaches must be members of the NCFSCA before they can submit an application to be considered as a coach OR for their players to be considered. This means softball coaches also need to be members of the NCCA (North Carolina Coaches Association) AND the NCFSCA to be considered. Must the coaches in football, basketball and soccer be memebers of 2 associations before they can coach or nominate athletes?

What will happen if a coach who does not pay their $40 so to nominate a player who should be deserving of a spot on the allstar team? Will this player be left out to due no fault of her own?

Also, I thought the NCHSAA (and maybe the NCAA) only allowed allowed seniors to particiapte in these types of allstar games. How are you getting around that for the games you have planned for the underclassmen?

I'm really not trying to be negative, I just want to learn if, how and why things are different for the softball coaches and players.

    1. Coaches for the East/West All-Star game and the 8 team District tournament will come from the membership of the NCFSCA.

    2. Any high school coach in the State may nominate players from his/her team for the opportunity to participate in the East/West All-Star game for Seniors or the 8 team tournament for underclassmen. The nominating coach does not need to be a member of any Association or Organization to nominate players.

    3. The NCHSAA allows underclassmen to participate in the State Games of North Carolina.
