    Patton High School has posted the position of Head Football Coach on the Burke County Website. The school will be part of the CVAC conference and should be a 2A school. Who will the new coach be?

    What kind of Job will this be, will it get many applicants? How good will the sports program as a whole be at this new Burke county School.

    I'm not sure how much interest there will be in the Patton job but to answer another one of your questions...Patton will be taking into a chunk of Freedom's talent base. I'm sure the first few years they will have their struggles but Burke County keeps growing like wildfire so I'm sure over time the talent level will rise.

    Freedom will do fine

    If we are talking about Freedom football being affected I don't believe it will. I am a former Burke Co. resident and sworn enemy of Free-dumb, but most of the football talent comes from Table Rock Middle and they will all go there instead of Patton. Liberty Middle is just across the road so all of them will go there. Walter Johnson Middle will be divided down the middle. Now if you are talking about baseball, all the kids that were on the Little League WS team from a while back went to Liberty. Basketball is pretty even between the three. As for head football coaches who knows. I don't see anyone in county taking it. I have a feeling it may be a fresh face.

    Just heard from someone that the new principal had been bombarded with calls about the job. I'll throw out the 1st name that is applying.
    Scott Williams, Head Coach in Virginia and current Walter Johnson Middle School Coach. He spent some time at Freedom as QB coach.
    Another person has been rumored to want the job but may settle to be an assistant principal/ad. This will shock everyone, so I'll leave it unsaid for a while.

    We all know the person you don't want to say is Mac... but here are some other possibilities:

    Butch Carter (S. Cald)
    JK Atkins (S. Iredell)
    Dan Hardee (S. Cald)
    Lee Miller (Bunker Hill)
    Chris Deal (Alex. Cent.)
    Charlie Lloyd (Newton)

    Any others? I know some of these guys have interviewed.

    I would seriously like to know where you are getting this information? Are you simply making it up and talking about possibilities or is there any factual elements to these names. Personally I don't see some of them leaving their current posts.

    dribbles. you are right on the money! coach deal is leaving achs and will be missed very much!!!!!! good luck to him and his new team. any idea who is in the running for the job?
