Any of You Guys Heard of this Kid?

somebody on another board is talking about this kid. Nobody over there seems to have heard of him. Based on some of the other posts I've seen from this guy I think he's probably full of sh....shells, peanut shells.

Anyway here's the "scoop". If this kid is legit then my apologies to him and his family. I figured if he is legit then one of the TBR gurus would have heard about him.



"He's a 6'5 Left Handed Pitcher from Greensboro. (goes to TRi City Academy - a Christian private school in High Point) His fastball hits up to 94 MPH and he has a slider that's been compared to Randy Johnson's. Supposedly the best pitching prospect in the nation, and he's only a sophomore this year!"

'As for why Connor Lance doesn't participate in showcase ball, his dad is very protective over his brilliant left arm. He doesn't want him throwing too many unnecessary innings in meaningless games. After all, when you're as good as Connor Lance is, you don't need to play showcase ball to get seen....The parents dont feel that it is necessary for him to play high school baseball at a public school, because the scouts are already flocking to Connor at every camp he attends as it is. '

Haven't you heard about that 6'6" Teer kid in Jamestown. He is in grade school, but shows a lot of promise; Coach Pope @ West Forsyth is all over him

 

Wossa,,,,, how's it going up there in Ragsdale country? 2 questions about your alleged young phenom,,,,, 1) who said he throws 94? and 2) who compared his slider to Randy Johnson?

If the answer to both of those questions is his dad,,,, I call BS.

If the answer to EITHER of those questions is a neutral party (whether scout or fan),,, then maybe legit.

Since your in that area, why don't you ask SBankhead? SB probably knows about this kid, if its true. I will end by saying, I hope it is true, that is as long as the kid don't play for Ragsdale...

 

Didn't the mets back in the 80's have a guy they were pumping up and said he threw 110 from the left side and as the story started playing itself out in the news it was an April fools joke! Can't remember all the details but I barely remember this happening.....

Yeah, but I believe it was in the 90's. The Mets drafted this skinny kid that threw left handed and they were told he threw in the high 90's. This kid broke all kinds of records at his college so the Mets drafted him sight unseen. The story goes that once the young man reported to his first day at camp, he was not quite so skinny and his fastball did not quite hit in the high 90's...but the Mets loved him anyway.

His name is John Hendricks

Seriously, I do remember that story. It was supposed to be a pitcher from Latin America that nobody heard of (the Mets kept him away from everybody). I remember that everybody fell for it.

 

Also Wossa, if you noticed, that thread about the kid was placed in every forum 1A,2A,3A,4A. The sad thing is, if there really is a kid named Conner Lance and he does have aspirations of playing at the next level, if he he doesn't have the credentials that are listed, the kid will be mocked about that kind of stuff. It can backfire with the scouts

 

I've been told that Hendricks was almost as suprised that the Mats drafted him as their local scouts were!

I also heard way back that it took several months of negotiating because hendricks had already started to get himself "physically" ready for his dream job as a professional wrestler. His ring name was gonna be -
"The Equator"

well like I said - I know the poster is full of it. He's some Trinity fan/kid that was running his yap about the Trinity/Ragsdale basketball game - then he started posting this stuff.

As for Connor Lance - he may be all that but I know for a fact he is no Sidd Finch...

things are good tj -- Coach Maness has the field looking pristine and ready for a another run at the state title. Lots of talent returning and some great freshmen and sophs should keep Ragsdale in the hunt for the next few years.

Do you know if Kannapolis is coming to town for any scrimmages this year? I haven't seen a schedule yet
