it has been brought to my attention that 2 NW4A ladies are gonna break the 1000 pt barrier within the next week.

Sophmore- Ali Ford Freedom 975 pts- needs 25
Junior -Kurie washington needs 9 points

Anytime a First time ever happens ( like when Atkinson broke the state assists record) onewould hope all the NW4A folks would want to know and celebrate it.

It is to the best of my knowledge ( and I've put out a few inquires)

that the NW4A has never had a sophmore break the 1000 pt barrier...

anyone have any thoughts ? or comments...post em here
also a good place to remember past firsts and share with others!

Not only do we have two great players reaching milestones, but we got one coach making his way through the charts...

It didn't get much attention when it happened but Mike Silver moved past Bill Rucker into 3rd place All time wins in the state when McDowell beat Freedom back a couple weeks ago. Going into tomorrow night's game against Watauga, Mike has a record of (641-200) over a 32 year period, that in itself is just amazing. Mike is only nine wins away from reaching Thomas Jackson (650-398) for 2nd place all-time. The top slot is held by Tom Pryor (702-244).

I wasn't around all that much during the early-mid 1990's when Marsha Crump had those dominant teams, but I would be suprised if Freedom has EVER has a pure shooter the likes of Ford. The scary thing about all this is that great players tend to step it up a knotch their junior and senior seasons...

Has the NW4A ever had a young lady to score 2000? If so, they should have come close to 1000 in 2 years. Either way, it is still a great accomplishment. Congrats to both these young ladies.

Congrats to Kurie Washington on scoring over 1000 points. She is a classy young lady. I hope she goes on to score a 1000 more and enjoy a tremendous college career. Anyone know where she might end up?

Watauga has had a couple score over a 1000 but not until their senior season... Jennifer Moretz (1996-97) and Eafton Hill (1998-1999). I do know Hill finished her career with close to 500 blocked shots. That in itself is amazing to me.

appreciate the classy comments on your part. There are some Division 1 schools looking at Kurie at this time.

Any team that recruits her will be fortunate to have her... not only because of her talent but also because of what she will bring to the table in the lockerroom for team chemistry. Please keep us informed as she continues her career.
She will most certainly be something special in the NW4A next year... not that she isn't now.

I thought Ebonique played extraordinarily well tonight also and all season for that matter.

I also have to say that I want to take my hat off to the WHOLE McDowell team. They show a lot of class.
