Impact Baseballs Top NC and SC Baseball Prospects

Not that it matters but yes he did. Watch his teams play and you will see that they play very very hard and they get after it every time out. Andy Partin is an outstanding baseball coach and does a tremendous job promoting HS baseball not only in NC but also in SC and VA. If you want to know what kind of guy he is just ask the players that have played for him. He also surrounds himself with quality people and outstanding coaches. But this thread is about the top 100 07's list top 25 08's list and the Impact All State Team. The Impact All State Team can be viewed without a subscription. The top 100 and top 25 list require a subscription to his site. I can remember a time when people constantly complained about no one promoting HS baseball and players in our state. Now we have several people that are trying to do just that. TBR , Freddie Suggs with the Copperheads , Impact Baseball etc etc. Im glad that we have people willing to take the time to inform and promote the game and players.

I notice they have showcase tournaments mostly at college stadiums. I'm sure that is part of the appeal to the kids .....to play in first-rate college facilities.
Do the college coaches ask for showcases at their parks as a recruiting benefit or do the tournament organizers ask around until they get venues that will host at none or little cost. I know that a cost is incurred even if for field prep and maintenance, so someone has to pay.

 

Every game the Dirtbags play pro and college scouts abound. If your son has an opportunity to play for them as a 16 or 17 year old, he will be the attention.. A pro scout remarked to me that the Dirtbags could compete successfully in the ACC. Look at the players on the roster and see where they are heading. The rap on the Dirtbags is they do not practice during the week in the summer. However, they are usually playing every weekend someplace and lets face it they came in #2 in the country at EAst Cobb and #3 in the country at Jupiter. There are very few programs that kids can get the attention from scouts consistently like the Dirtbags. There is no DaddyBall and kids are not playing because of parental contributions. This is one great program where which will prepare your son for the next level. Andy stays in contact with the kids and they enjoy him very much. What more can I say.

 

Good points Coach 27. Sometimes people make assumptions that are not accurate. Then they repeat them. I can vouch for the quality of a few of his coaches. The comments from Hitstreak are most of what I have heard.

You have to try out

You have to try out to play for the Dirtbags. You can not just pay to play. The players are selected after all of his ID camps and showcase events. You do not go 54-4 and finish 2nd in the nation at East Cobb and 3rd in the nation at Jupiter by not having talented players. If they are not in the top 100 on the list then they shouldnt have been on the team in the first place. By the way the 16u team finished 3rd in the nation as well. I wonder sometimes if people have any idea what kind of accomplishment it is to go to these WWBA events where there are 70plus teams from around the entire country and compete at that level. You dont do it playing daddy ball I can assure you of that.

 

As I said in an earlier post, there are lots of good programs out there, On Deck O's, South Charlotte Panthers etc. When the Dirtbags play, all the teams they play put their number 1 guy on the mound. What was said earlier about 54-4 is absolutley true. As a scout, where are you going to spend your time!

 

A couple of things to consider here:

Andy did play baseball and coached at the high school level.. he started as an assistant at Riverside under Tommy Blalock.

He has built the IMPACT program into a top level service for those who play for him.

He does surround himself with quality coaches, many of which are friends of mine and a I have alot of respect for.

There are other excellent options around to be showcased. I have had the opportunity to work for both Andy and Freddy Suggs. Both of these guys work hard for their players. I remember Freddy was the first showcase team I heard of when he had the Anglers. Both of these men work hard for their kids and offer the opportunity for kids to showcase themselves by giving them the opportunity to play in front of scouts and college coaches. Andy travels to Jupiter and East Cobb (both great opportunities), and Freddy does not. Freddy's philosophy with this is that these are expensive events and if most of his kids are going to stay in the Carolinas anyway, then why travel there to be seen by NC/SC coaches when they can go to those campuses and then be seen by the coaches and actually see the facilities. Freddy uses this philosophy also as a way to help keep costs down for parents too... We ALL know how expensive this can be with travel and all.

We are fortunate to have these guys in NC...

Two different philosophies, but both are good. The bottom line is that if a player is good enough, he will be seen, sooner or later. IMHO, sooner is not always better. A player may be more ready later... Just a thought.

 

Great points Coach Evans

As usual Coach Evans had made some great points. The thing about Impact is they do not go to East Cobb or Jupiter just to get their guys seen. Heck this year just about everyone was already signed before we started playing. To Impact its about trying to compete and win a national championship. The guys that play with Impact are seen every weekend they play anyway. The focus I saw with the team was on winning the games they played. And the total focus when they played WWBA events was on winning a ring. Of course Jupiter gave certain guys an opportunity to be seen by a ton of professional scouts. And of course guys want to be seen by college coaches. But you play to win and you play for the competition. And if you do that the other stuff takes care of itself. If you go out there worrying about who is watching you and your focus is not on just playing to win that is not a good situation IMO. They are a team in every aspect you can imagine. I have never been around a group of guys that wanted win anymore than them. I also have had the pleasure of meeting Freddie Suggs. He is nothing but first class. And he knows the game. He runs a first class group with the copperheads. Anyone who gets the opportunity to play for him should jump on it like a hobo on a ham biscuit!

 

My son saw his Elon team beat Miss. State in the NCAA's at Clemson last year, and they should have won another game there, against Clemson I think. He must be doing something right. I don't know the man first hand at all but Elon baseball has improved dramatically since he's been there.
