    So how is it going?

    Has everyone shown up that you thought would be there or has some good players decided not to play this year?

    It's just me again, but why would good players decide not to play this year? Where's the logic in that situation?

    We had two former players decide to not continue this season.
    One for personal reasons and the second gave no reason just told us she would not be to tryouts. I think we are just starting to see some results of girls having played this game from the age of eight, with almost no break for some of them. It seems the prospect of burnout may need to become more of a concern then it has been in the past.

    yes as CFBall suggested, see the thread " She has given up the game " for a real life experience on this issue. There are many reasons this happens. I do go back to a reduction in passion for the game. I told my dd that if she still had the passion for the game, nothing could separate her from it.

    Also this example came to mind, why don't the best potential leaders run for election to public office?

    decisions with this age group are constant, just happens that softball gets cut from their priorities.......and your concern too DawgFan.
