so how is Chase doing? I posted something about him lhere last fall when he was diagnosed. Do they still have that blog going? All those kids that have gone undefeated at JMS for several years are going to be the backbone of Ragsdale's success the next few years. The freshmen sure did look good playing fall ball this year.

I have to disagree, Mooresville lost everybody last year, they will be middle of the pack, don't get me wrong they will be ok, but not the team to beat, I honestly can't think of a starter they are returning actually. The incoming seventh grade class is far from star studded as well.

    employee?

in your area of NC, do you have to be employed by the school system to be eligible to coach in middle school?

Middle school ball in Chatham Co. is really hit or miss. They play an 11-12 game schedule depending on whether it's an eastern or western school.Due to small student populations, the talent pool in each school varies year to year and school to school. At the middle school my kids attend(ed) they are begging my daughter to play! She was pretty dominant in the local rec league until she started playing travel softball... man those cheers/chants drive me nuts...
Travel baseball has become so prevelant I do think that a middle school age kid, that wants to play competitively, has plenty of opportunity to find a team and not be limited to what is offered by the schools for his advancement.
I was impressed by some of the younger players that attended the Northwood camp last weekend. Many of the 6th and 7th graders have been playing travel ball, working with private instructors and have been exposed to good competition through their tournament play. This will pay off when they get to high school.

I'm not sure if it is required but Mooresville does unless they can't find a coach.

    employed by school

You do not have to be employed by the school system to coach any sport in middle in caldwell co..Hudson and Granite falls middle feed south caldwell and both are usually pretty strong. As far as eliminating middle school ball i say no,imo because you start to to see a big seperation at this level. Those that are good will step up and those that are not will fadeout. The senior class at South caldwell right now was said to be destined for greatness in the 7th grade. Thank goodness somebody made a big deal out of it then.:dancing_dick:

The coach that said that and did the work when those kids were in the seventh and eight grade, is now a assisant coach working with South Caldwell High School, "SOFTBALL TEAM", plus he also coaches one of our softball travel teams.....
