Tomorrow I get to do something that I dreamed about for many years. My son will suit up for his first collegiate baseball game. Even though he his is not scheduled to start until the third game, my family will be right there rooting the Davidson Wildcats to victory while shivering our fannies off. By Monday, Dad will be a nervous wreck.

I can't wait to find out what they have. I only know from my son that Wilson throws HARD and he is the staff ace. He will be going tomorrow and I will report.

Hey hitman..glad to see you posting again. Congratulations on Wil's start. How did he do? You should be very proud. Please keep us informed this season.

Wow...all these NC players starting on college teams at different levels. We all should be proud. I remember when............

EDIT- Wilson Boyd was 2-4 with an RBI for the top ranked Tigers.

You know Ronnie, as impressive as that win was, what is even more impressive is the attendance. Over 5,300 fans on a cold windy day

    Correction. This just in !!!!!

Correction. Previously top ranked Tigers, as they lose today to George Mason getting only 2 hits.

Man was it cold in Clemson over the weekend! It was a typical early season series. The Tigers looked like the #1 team in the nation on Friday scoring 14 runs and pounding out 20 hits. On Saturday (flurries by the end of the game) they only managed to score 1 run on 2 hits and knocked the ball around a couple of times. Sunday (it actually got up to 50 degrees) they bounced back to win the series. Addison Johnson lead off and started all three games in left field. Wil Boyd started two of the games in RF and DJ Mitchell pitched 2 innings on Friday and played RF on Saturday. Josh (Thrailkill) gets his first college start on Wednesday against High Point. It seems like it was just yesterday we were watching him start his first HS game and now he's a freshman in college....unbelievable. The game time forecast on Wednesday is sunny with a high of 67!

I know it seems I'm a little late, but you can't report first game news until it actually happens, right?

So, now it has happened. The United States Naval Academy Prep School (Newport RI) opened their season last Friday. The guys traveled to Annapolis during part of their Spring Break to take on Anne Arrundel CC, Notre Dame Academy, and Riverdale Baptist.

Ben Lilly got things going early with a solo home run in his first at bat of the season! He also was the starting pitcher and went 4 innings giving up 3 runs. He was not part of the decision as NAPS lost 5-4 in 9 innings.

The next two games were played at the US Naval Academy. Lilly was the winning pitcher in relief in game 3. He pitched 5 innings while giving up 2 runs. They were down 7-0 after two innings, but came back to win 10-9 in the bottom of the 7th. Lilly finished 3-10 at the plate for the series.

All things considered, NAPS did pretty well (1-2). These games were the first time they had actually practiced/played on a baseball field all spring!

Now it's home for some R&R!
