2007 NCHSAA State Sectionals Discussion Thread

Just a few notes and thoughts this morning...

The NCHSAA finally updated the womens bracket, 2nd round games in Sections 3 and 4 are still at the higher seed and the sectional finals are at East Burke unless the Lady Cavs advance to the sectional final, the alternate location is still TBA.

Apparently Langston Wertz feels highly of McDowell girls because he has tagged them in his gameday feature as "his favorite" to make it to Chapel Hill. Last time he said something to that effect, Harding came in and upset McDowell.

These first round games are always interesting to watch. First off its "do or die" out there...one loss and you're going home for the year. Second off, you get these out of town refs who you haven't seen all year. You never know what you are going to get from the guys in stripes. Third thing is the fact that you are playing a team that you have likely never seen before. There's almost a feeling that you don't know what to expect, plus does a coach properly perpare his or her team for an opponent? All of this makes the first round games more hard to predict, especially in the girls game...

 

Glad you brought up the ref's bigdan. These past few games at McDowell have had some of the worst I have ever seen. It's almost like watching an NBA game out there. The Guards can carry the ball and never get called. A player will get hammered on the inside as he shoots without a call then they call a touch foul way outside the arch. The only good thing I can say is they stink on both ends of the floor.
