even if he does not play Legion this summer, that will give one more player the opportunity to shine. let him move on and wish him the best. times change, people change............. it's not like it was years ago with the community loyalty thing. that's not at all a bash on Q or anyone, it's just a fact of the times we live in.

You're correct, the Cape is for college players. They're extended an iniviation and have to sign a contract stating they will not play for anyone else that summer. The Cape is limited to top prospects from around the country. Most major programs feed their top underclassmen to the Cape - NC, SC, Clemson usually send 2-4 players each year.

    Legion Baseball

I envy you people that have great legion programs in your areas. It is obvious you have a tremendous amount of pride and passion for you legion baseball. I would think that Dusty has earned the right to do what he feels is best for him. I understand you comment about "Were still going to have a team". You have pride and you are passionate about your legion baseball. That is a great thing. I wish more people felt the same way. But at the same time people have to choose their own road and sometimes that road is not their choice either. Either way good luck to your legion program this summer. Im sure this will give another young man an opportunity to be part of something special.

It nevers ceases to amaze me that when a player decides to take the next step to further their career how some people quickly turn on the player and start questioning the "loyalty" of the player.

Most of these kids dream of getting to the next level of playing College or Professional baseball from the time they can swing a bat or throw the ball across the plate....don't condemn the kid because he is doing everything he can to help realize that dream. Maybe instead of questioning his loyalty you thank him for the contributions he has made to the Team and program over the past several years....

Dusty, good luck....We are going to miss you on the Legion field, you were one of the toughest guys we ever tried to pitch to. Thanks for being the competitor that you are.

Didn't mean to get on a soap box but I just get tired of seeing this when a player is just trying to keep himself moving forward towards his ultimate goal of playing at the highest level he can.

    What amazes me is ...

a thread about a player started by someone who said they may have heard about this. How do we wind up with this many posts when nobody has a clue as to what is actually going on? Don't really think its appropraite in my opinion.

I'm really aiming at Angeleyes post not yours. Not one of these posts adresses whether this is even a fact. If it is a fact then congratulations to him as that is a step up the ladder.

I understand what you are saying and certainly don't disagree. This is a tough call. The thread was started by a moderator (in a different sports forum) that asked a legitimate question in an area that Legion baseball is a community topic. He had heard this in his area and was just asking the TBR baseball people to confirm. I didn't have a problem with that.

In the one post that questioned Dusty Quattlebaum's loyalty to his community, all of the responses mitigated that question and I let it go. There were some legitimate replies that I felt were informative and thoughtful and I didn't want to ruin those replies by deleting the thread.

It's not an easy decision, but when 99% of the posts were saying either positive things about Dusty or his situation (although unanswered), I wasn't going to allow one post to ruin it for him or our members.

I, also, understand the mentality of legion baseball supporters in the communities that adopt their team. It's not unlike "Cubs fans". They live and breathe their team. It's something that players and parents from Charlotte will never feel. I'm not saying it's right...it's just different and the players from those communities realize that.
