The biggest unsung hero on McDowell is Jessica Smith not Kurie. Like you said Kurie hits open shots. Jessica does everything else. She is my opinion is fun to watch and the glue of McDowell.

Bigham,I have to disagree with you on Washington.Last night ,as she has all year Washington got many rebounds and put the shot back up. If the refs would have called all the over the back fouls on rebounds and hack jobs the Butler big girl put on her she might have scored 40 points. But last night was like every other playoff game I have been to the refs only called the touch fouls. Anyway I guess it works to the lady titans advantage since they won by 31.

Good points on some of your comments...Butler does have a strong nucleus of players coming back next year and they should be contenders next year. Where I disagree with you is the assessment of your team...first off every time that I would look up scores on the internet and see Butler and other SW4A teams win games with scores in the high 40's or 50's. I don't think it was Butler struggling on offense all year, because I think its more Butler not be able to run and gun against us. Everytime Freeman would take off in transition, we would get multiple people back on defense and would force some wild shots.

Jessica does hold this team together pretty well, she provides the senior leadership for the Lady Titans. She is also the catalyst for the Box and 1 that we have been running lately and she's a good enough shooter to where other teams have to respect her ability on offense.

Bigdan - you actually help prove my point. Butler scored 46 points last night. Their offensive output last night was not that different than their averages, with Freeman leading the team with 19 points. The difference in the game was the fact that they gave up 77 points.

    Tony:

Washington is a great player and if my comments appear different please forgive me. Her team's offensive philosophy is well suited to her skills. However, last night, she made 10 baskets from the floor and at least 8 of the ten were in transistion. It is hard to get too many points off of offensive rebounds when your team shoots 70% from the floor.

I missed the "hack job" to which you reference but in a 31 point victory, I do not see the point in beating up the referees.

Let me assure you Bigham, #25 Kurie Washington can play in the half-court and she shoots just fine. The fact that Butler couldn't keep her from running the floor and scoring is their own fault. Did you expect her to walk down the court? Good players anticipate and react.......

It does look like Butler will be productive in the future. Good luck to them.

Hopefully you will be able to watch Miss Washington play again and see oher aspects of her game other than the running, jumping, catching, and athleticism aspects... She is a tremendous person also.

Good luck Titans and Patriots as you move on......too bad you have to face each other sooooo soon.

    I agree 100%.

She appears to be a great person - I saw her interacting with all of the kids after the game.
