Anybody surprised with the 2 North Carolina schools? I was surprised at West Forsyth but with all those D-1 signees they should have an outstanding season. South Caldwell and their pitching staff speaks for themselves.

Surprised but in a different way

I am surprised ACR, Providence and Fuquay aren't. That is what surprised me.

from what I have witnessed first hand. ACR is WAY overated. If Runion is not on the hill, they are gonna struggle. I am an ACR grad, so it hurts me to say this. I can only speak on what these OLD eyes have seen in the past week. I hope I am wrong. JMO

    Pains me to somewhat agree

I somewhat agree that they fall off some without Runion on the hill but they still have their bats... That is the beauty or ugliness of high school baseball and single game playoffs.... Put the right man on the bump the right day and anyone one of the top teams can beat each other...

I'm still waiting on the Runion - Bumgarner match-up. Although the Johnson - Bumgarner was pretty impressive!!!

Overrate us all you want, old grad, but the season is still young and correct me if im wrong, but both Towery and Haley won their games - Terbeek hasn't pitched yet reg season and Pap is rumored to be back soon, so although runion is the one everyone knows, there are several others who will make their marks as the season unfolds.

How do you know if "they fall off some" so early in the season. We've played 2 games (not including scrimmages) so it appears a bit premature to say that "we fall off some". We may not have any other 90+ pitchers, but off-speed and movement are many times just as effective and the rest of our staff has that....

in my experience - theres A LOT of overratedness in this game called baseball and it all boils down to 1 game at a time, 1 pitch at a time, and 1 hit at a time.....

I did NOT say the pitching was in question. The bats are absent thus far. Dont be so defensive flotg, that attitude is what us rational ACR grads have been fighting for years.

Sorry if I sounded defensive - but, HMR, your post didn't refer to batting at all...
Guess I needed to be a mind reader to pick up on the batting reference - LOL

a lot of good press right now about the ACR/TCR game today - Sammy and Justin are bringing the crowds to Arden today - best of luck to both teams..... (but I'll be pulling for the Rockets - let's give 'em the show theyre coming for, Sammy!!!)

    http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200770302148

Don't know how in the world you get an "attitude" from my earlier post - I was simply trying to say that the Rockets have a good team with good pitching in the lineup and trying to show support for the whole team.... Everybody knows Sam's a really good pitcher and that he will be the primary starter this year - which is great - because we will need him and his talent - I was simply saying that our other pitching staff can be (and should be) just as effective but maybe in a different way. That would be what I would consider a "positive" attitude, not a negative one or slam against anybody..... And my reference to "over-ratedness" was NOT in response to a specific player or person - it was to the way the game is represented in general - but that's another topic altogether.....

Oh, well, that's the problem with message boards - its different people saying different things and being interpreted different ways - not the same as if you were talking face-to-face..... (and TBR is the best board out there!!!!)
