After a tough opening game it appears that the hitters are coming around. I see my boy Hank has lived up to my prediction. It also appears that some of the pitchers are still experiencing a little wildness (I know you HATE walks).

What are your thoughts so far this year? Any surprises? Are you where you thought you would be at this time? You know Da Bears are Braves' favorite team.

Sorry to take so long getting to you Braves....

I think this year's team has started off very well and there are two things that stand out. One is offensively we are strong. We have scored alot of runs against every kind of picture you can think of. secondly, there is an amazing chemistry and group effort amongst the older and the younger guys. You can really see how the team's needs are more important than individuals. These guys are a pleasure to coach.

Some notable names for you guys-
greg Conrad from olympic HS soph lhp weekend starter off to 2-0 record

evan taylor independence HS great athlete and defensive upgrade in right bats in the middle of the line up as a frehman

Dallas Tarleton Soph from piedmont HS has become as good a catcher as there is defensively, is killing the baseball from the left side . As this year plays out I think he is the most improved player in the conference, of course he was already pretty good

john Danza freshman from independence, probably the best JV pitcher in LR history i think he has a chance to have a great future for us. right now is pitching on JV to get more innings

Obviously who knows how the year will play out but at this point we are very happy with the players and their effort. Win or lost these young men are fun to be around and the reason we get into coaching in the first place.

Start conference this weekend against Presbyterian at 7-2.....

we're now 9-3 and 2-1 in the SAC. It took us about twenty innings to figure out they were stealing our pitches from the stands. I have to say it's a little unethical for PC to do this but it happened. two things come to mind....
1- I can't imagine how bad we would have swept them if they hadn't been stealing our stuff
2- I think we were lucky to win one with them knowing every pitch and we were lucky to figure it out on sunday in time to win the series....

LR is now 22-3 and 4-1 in the conference. We play Lincoln memorial this weekend. 15 game winning streak ties school record. This weekend is going to be a tough war. I am very excited and nervous. Our players are gona have to play the game really well and pitching must be better than it has all year in order to win this series. For those that don't know LM is playing with 10 scholarships for the season. The SAC has a 5 scholarship limit, and it has shown on the field. Let's just say their transition to D2 from NAIA has been quite successful.

Thanks olefty for keeping us informed, I can't. I promised certain people on the board that I would not jinx Da Bears by saying anything about them during this streak. Once this streak is over, I have a lot to say....let's just hope it's after the season
