Would you rather have speed or great ball movement on the mound? Which do you think is more effective, most of the time? If you are/were a coach, which would you prefer, if you could only have one? Does one work better than the other in HS, TB, College level? What are your feelings on this one?

I RATHER HAVE MOVEMENT ANY DAY !!!!

A 12 year old can hit a 60 mph fast ball, but put some movement on it ,and the chances drop significantly !!!! The right spins can also make the ball react off the bat differently...ask the king of spin Ron Makeski ( Spelling ??? )

Movement is certainly something you must have, but you can teach that. You can't teach speed

    MOVEMENT ANYDAY

Agree Braves, my dd was only 5'1" and had great movement and awesome placement. had some great pitching coaches. speed was only used to set up certain pitches. old saying: "can catch up to speed, cant catch on to movement" holds true. played a girl last week, batter moved up in the box, saw a rise ball, moved back in the box, saw a drop or curve. great movement.

you need to have 56mph and up for the ball to break enough to be effective on certain pitches like rise balls and curve balls and you gotta have great control with those moving pitches. My daughter took lessons
from Ron Makeskia and Beverly Smith and both dont like fast balls. We have all seen a change up going 35mph with the right spin break a foot and they are deadly but you cant throw many in a row to a good batter
or she will crush it, but you can throw a good 58mph rise to a team all day long
and they still might not hit it solid

    Movement

Movement and more movement plus slight change in speeds and just as in real estate its about location, location, location. That and throwing your FB in the mid 50s should get you pretty far.
