no.. i agree there can be some hard heads. but i think that is the exception instead of the norm. of course there are some still out there that think you shouldn't lift at all if you play baseball or basketball.:argue: the worst injury we have had was do to dodge ball. an outfielder hurt his arm and couldn't throw for the whole season.

I'm sure you are right about the exceptions, coach. It's just that I have a vivid memory of a discussion I had with a friend of mine. He was both the football coach and baseball coach at the school. Unfortunately, he was from the Old School. We went round and round about weight lifting, but he never once tailored between sports.

The teacher and the player must have an understanding in what needs to be accomplished for the benefit of the athlete. My son has been in weight training for 4 years and his teacher has a great understanding of how baseball players need to lift. He knows the lifts that he needs to do to benefit his baseball. If you are concerned that your baseball player is doing lifts that will hurt his body for baseball, go talk to the teacher and bring a baseball friendly weight program that you can discuss with him. No teacher wants to hurt a student but some are not aware of the differences between baseball and football lifting.
