Philosophies are not different! This thread is a real hoot! One thing is a fact though, the "experts" are always outside the fence. Probably true on the baseball side also.

Some of us have been on both sides of the fence! The clarity comes with experience and maturity.

    Not competing at teams potential

What I do not understand is why a coach with 11 varsity girls wolud choose to play girls who only touch a softball during softball season and would place girls who work year round at developining skills on the bench. All you hear is pay dues and seniority not capability. Why would you place a girl who made an 18 under all tournment showcase team as a freshmen on the bench to play girls who don't wish to play ball after high school just because they are say a junior or senior. It seems that in the end the entire team seems to pay. If you look at the really good teams I don't hink there are nearly any year round players on the bench.

Just because a kid plays year-round, doesn't always mean that they're good, and am I the only one who thinks that "dd" stuff is lame ?

The season is young, HS ball for the most part is conditioning for TB. Freshmen players are usually timid, eventually coming out of their shell to show what they can do. By sophmore year the head coach is our best friend.
My DD last season FRESHMAN, ME-NUTS, and I coached TB for five years>
    Good Luck!
