My fav is one you didn't mention:

"A League of their Own"; yeah, I know it's about girls but if you remember, its a baseball movie, not a softball movie.

It captures a lot of the spirit and sentiment that makes the game so great; and besides, Tom Hanks is fantastic in his role as the drunken/bombed-out ex-star manager ("There's no crying in baseball!!!)

"Bull Durham" runs a close second.

    BEST BASEBALL BOOKS:
    1. "Ball Four" by Jim Bouten (hilarious)
    2. "Head Game: Baseball as Seen from the Pitcher's Mound" by the late great Roger Kahn (a must for any pitcher)

The Natural is a classic as is Field of Dreams. I can't choose between the two. A flick that dosen't get much credit is The Rookie, I like it a lot. Watch Field of Dreams early in the season and watch The Natural as the post season nears.

Heck with the movie, where's Jessica Beile?

Watch out for the flowers! Not a bad flick and most of it was filmed right here in North Carolina

    Baseball Movies

It is really hard to pick just one favorite baseball movie. Each one has a way of touching baseball fans. For the Love of the Game is definitely a favorite. TBR's poll is missing a good baseball movie about the old Negro League: Finding Buck McHenry. I encourage baseball fans to watch this one.

If we are talking about a real "Baseball" type movie, ...... it has to be Bull Durham! I liked "For Love of the Game" (the baseball portion, NOT the love story part).

No one has mentioned "The Babe Ruth Story" starring William Bendix (I think that who it was). Only kidding!!!!!!!

This is an old black & white movie from the fifties. Old farts like myself will remember that one. It was and is.....the worst.....sports movie you will ever see!

If i had to choose it would be Bull Durham but i have to admit i still cry at the end of the Rookie and Field of Dreams. So many good movies left off your list like Bad news bears (old and new versions) Pride of the Yankees and that one where Jimmy Stewart shot himself in a hunting accident, cant remember the name.

:iagree: Finding Buck McHenry is a great movie, but It's more of an unknown movie because it's never gotten much publicity. It's a really good movie though
