Nobody needs to be reminded at how good S. Caldwell is...They are definitely the class of the state and strong as any High School team I've seen in a long time, but there are some good ball clubs in both conferences and in all of NC that will make it a interesting 2007!
Its hard to imagine them not winning it all, but stranger things have happened...

Agree 100% TMJ...the best talent does not always win, it usally boils down to the Team that wants it the most and refuses to lose.

Based on what we have seen so far I'm sure there are going to be some very interesting games and match ups as we get closer to the playoffs to determine those final playoff spots.

    English Class

English class is very important. Those of you who are still in school please do not miss this critical class. While in attendance pay particular attention to spelling, punctuation, grammer and run-on sentences. The manner in which you write will speak volumes about you and your education in future years.

Play well, as these are the memories of a lifetime, but don't cut English class!

That's a very good point. We had this discussion last year about the inportance of grades, but let me interject one thing for the old people :laugh4: on here.

Right or wrong the young kids have their own language on the internet (IM's, message boards, PM's and any other communication) They love the fact that the adults don't understand nor condone their way of communication....much like our parents didn't like the way we spoke or what type of music we listened to. They type their own "code", don't spellcheck and press send. Kind of what dbacks does all of the time.

It has been my experience (having young kids) that the way they communicate on the internet is not a direct reflection in the way they write papers for school or oral communication with adults. That's just the way they are...of course, I'm not a fan of rap music either, so that makes them even happier.

    Not Buying It

    Sorry Braves,

I'm not buying your explanation of how/why the youth communicate the way they do. For text messages that are difficult to compose and will only be read by their closest friends by all means use the shortcuts that are understood and accepted.

This board, however, is read by a diverse group of youths and adults. Communicating effectively here is best done by using English! As they say, "represent." These young players should want to "represent" not just by the way they pitch, field or hit but by their communication skills and the education they've been able to acquire.

You're suggesting that they can communicate using their shortcuts AND/OR by using proper English. I can only hope you are correct!

I know both TJ and Ryan. When I speak with them they look me square in the eye and speak respectfully and articulately. AND it doesn't make them "less cool." I'm sure they can do the texting shortcuts too if the situation calls for it.

It's not hard to tell that Dad had a hand in the way they turned out!
