High School Stats--- What A Joke !!!

It would be nice if their was a uniform way everyone did stats. Some schools do nothing, some do spreadsheets, some use computer programs. The ones that use programs use different ones. I think that whoever keeps the stats at the field should be either a coach with an objective outlook to where they don't falsify it or a representative, such as most colleges and universitys have known as a SID (sports info director). SID's can make scoring decisons without the influence of others.

This is what Watauga has done for football, men's and women's hoops, baseball and softball. I dare say we are the only school other than North Forsyth with an SID who comes to most ever game and keeps an accurate account for the media and college coaches.

I terms of scoring decisons for baseball and softball, I take advice from others in the press box as to there opinion on a close play. You must be open to suggestions IMO. I learned that from the SID at App State, Mike Flynn.

Well of course we do, you need to spend time with 100's of girls a year PMS'ing, they will let you know real quick how they FEEL !!!---- LOL

Love those who damage arms patting self on back

I just love it, when people brag, rave and can't say enough, about someone's batting average or all those strike outs (K's) when they are playing a team, that a rec team of little experience could beat! I think I'll save my bragging for my DD or SS, or someone else's DD or SS, to a time when they truly earned it!
I ain't one to pat you on the back and rave about your accomplishment, if it wasn't that much of an accomplishment! I also tell my kids not to brag about accomplishments they did not, have to sweat, to earn! Don't damage your arm patting yourself on the back! When it was an accomplishment that you truly earned I'll be the first one there to pat you on the back and tell you how proud I am and you should be!!!!

watauga Hs : do you have a "SID" solely for softball, & another for baseball, & one for soccer , & another for track????? most of time these sports are all being played at same time.

Does anyone know where I can view the NC 4A softball rankings? I live in Orlando, Fl. so I don't get much NC news. HELP!

No, we have one guy who does everything, and one intern like guy who helps out but is not as knowledgable. When baseball and softball are at the same time he scores baseball live with the radio crew and will do softball off of the book. He does all football live, all basketball live, and all baseball live. He pretty much does it all for those sports.

Keep in mind in soccer, most stats are clear cut such as goals and saves. Our head coach does soccer, and our track stuff is calculated by meet offcials.
