Even if the runners on base, the batter and teh on-ddeck batter score, the score is 6-4... IMHO it is NOT a SAVE situation.

Exciting game to watch, unfortunaltly no fun for me as we came out on the short end of it. Both teams played hard and though we made a couple of errors, we were in a position to tie the game in the 7th. I am proud of my team's effort and the fact we went down kicking and screaming. WE are steadily improving as a team... taking baby steps, but steps in the right direction!! PLAying Riverside at Riverside is NEVER an easy task, but Riverside has a sound team and they do nothing to hurt themselves... Doug Blowe is a class act and his players play hard too.

    Whiteville's first defeat

    West Bladen 14 Whiteville 4

    Records:
    West Bladen 6-1
    Whiteville 6-1

Whiteville handed West Bladen their first loss of the year, last week. But West Bladen came back with revenge. In this non-conference game, Whiteville was without Catcher (Lloyd Enzor) who was resting a sore back and Whiteville used a few players that wouldn't ordinally be playing. No excuses though, West Bladen came to play tonight.

    WP - #20 - 5 innings, 25 batters faced, 10 Hit, 1 reach on error, 3 K's, 4 runs (all earned)
LP - Sprandon McHoney (Soph), 1 + innings (five batters in 2nd), 12 batters, 3 hits, 1 reach on error, 1 HB, 4 walks, 7 runs
    Reliever - Baret Proctor (F), 2+ innnings, 13 batters, 7 hits, 1 reach on error, 1 walk, 3 K's, 7 runs
    Reliever - Alex Memory (Soph) 1 inning, 5 batters, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 k

    Whiteville Batting:
    Quan Gaddy 2-3, RBI
    Michael Wright 2-3
Trey Nye (Sr) 2-3, 1 run
Zack Stanley (Jr) 1-1, sac butt
Parks Godwin (Jr) 1-2, RBI, 1 run
    Charlie Gore 1-3
    Tyrone McCoy 1-3, 1 FC, 1 run
Ben Deans 0-3, 1 reach on error, 1 run

Whiteville returns to Conference play on Friday night when they go to Pender at 5 p.m. Michael Wright will be the starting pitcher.
