8 innings. Daniel Welch pitched a great game for NWC. Carson made a great comeback but fell short in the 8th. Not a bad effort at all for a first year team. GO COUGARS!

here is the writeup from wossa.com

Great game ( for the Tigers, the Ragsdale Tigers that is) great weather, big crowd in Jamestown tonight.

Sophomore Ryan Andrejco got the start tonight for Ragsdale and got off to a shaky start giving up a lead off double to Ben Bunting and a single to Tyler McSwain. Zack Bumgarner did a good job holding Bunting on third. Ragsdale got out of the inning with no damage though when Bunting was thrown out at the plate on a squeeze and then JP Trogdon lined out to third and McSwain got doubled off second.

UNC bound Ben Bunting started on the mound for Randleman and did not have his best stuff tonight. Tyler Rankin led off with a walk, Catlin Carter beat out a grounder in front of the plate and with one out Jason Wallace smacked a 2 RBI triple to the corner in right. Nate Cash drove in Wallace with a two out single to stake Ragsdale to a 3-0 lead after one.

Randleman scratched out a run in the second on three singles with Seth Issacs driving in Victor Oxendine. Ragsdale put three more on the board in the third. Catlin Carter led off with a single and was driven in on a Jason Wallace single. A walk and a HBP loaded the bases and Zack Bumgarner with a sacrifice and Desean Anderson with a single drove in two more runs.

That was all Ragsdale would need as sophomore David Coffey pitched four strong, 1 hit, 5 strikeout innings and Catlin Carter shut them down 1,2,3 in the seventh.

Great pitching, great defense and timely hitting by Ragsdale tonight. David Coffey is proving to be a very solid pitcher. Andrejco gave up hits but he made good pitches when it counted and had the defense backing him up tonight. And Carter is the man as a closer. Lots of sophomores and freshmen making big contributions this year.

Ragsdale goes to 8-1, 4-1 on the season while Randleman falls to 7-2, 4-1.

    Randleman 010 000 0 1 6 3
    Ragsdale 303 020 X 8 9 1

    Ragsdale
Ryan Andrejco WP 2 IP, 5 hits, 1 run
    David Coffey 4 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 5 SO, 0 runs
Catlin Carter 1 IP, 0 hits, SO
    Jason Wallace 2-3, 3B,W 3 RBIs, 2 runs
    Catlin Carter 2-4, 2 runs
    Brent O Berry 2-4
    Desean Anderson 1-3, RBI
    Nate Cash 1-3, RBI
    Tyler Rankin 1-2, run, RBI

    Randleman
Ben Bunting LP 3 IP, 6 hits, 5 SO, 2 walks, 6 runs
    JT Trogdon 2 2/3 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk, 3 SO, 2 runs
    Bunting 1-3, DB
    McSwain 1-2
    Seth Issacs 1-3, RBI
    Tuttle 1-3
    Hollins 1-3

see if I have to fix my stats - one of the Randleman hits was ruled an error - thought it probably was so that made their run unearned. And the paper has Coffey credited with the win. I wondered about that. Andrejco had the lead after two but I wasn't sure how many innings were required to get credit for a win.

And Ragsdale is 9-1, not 8-1. What? you expected this accountant to be able to count?

What a great win for the Tigers...and to do it against one of the better pitchers in the state. Outstanding...hey, is Wossa.com a prescription site?

In a night where emotions ran high due to the new scoreboard and a wall sign dedicated to the memory of Eric Walker ( former player at West,UNCC, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization) who died in October, the Titans put together an outstanding performance. Greg Holt led the way giving up 3 hits and 15 stikeouts throwing a complete game shutout against a very talented Black Knights baseball team.
West catcher Chris Sanders led the way with a big clutch 2 out double in the 5th to move the Titans to a 4 run run lead. Garrison Lassiter had 2 hits (1 2b), and John Stamper had a double. Jordan smith had a 2-run double to give the Titans the early lead. It was game that could have gone either way but some interesting umpiring gave the Titans some extra opportunities that they capitalized on but probably didn't make a difference in the game with Holt throwing like he was. Titans move to 7-1 and 2-1 in the conference. North Davidson goes to 6-3 and 1-1 in the conference. Titans play at Wautaga tomorrow.

I'll let flotg give the details. some may consider this an upset. I don't. North is good as they usually are.
