Justin Poovey will be having his MRI on Friday. Doctors will decide at that point what to do next. May require surgery to move nerve off of elbow. Sounds more serious than it is. Quite commom in pitchers and catchers.

I wish Justin nothing but the best. Please keep me posted on the MRI. I pretty sensitive to this subject and would like to know how it comes out.

I've only seen him play once (he hit a grad slam in the playoffs against West last year with the first pitch he saw in his 2nd AB) but Madison Bumgarner is unbelievable. He is the total package and it seems to me that he could become a great at the next level on the mound, in the field, and at the plate.

And it's great to hear how humble he is, you don't get many like that nowadays.

Well there's a reason for that.
Last year both teams were evenly matched and ACR actually won the conference. This year they are not.
In fact, ACR basically conceded the 07 conference championship to SC by not throwing Runion.
Alexander Central will follow suit by not throwing Harrington.
I know the reasoning as far as seeds and stuff, but I just don't like it.
How often do you get the chance to knock off the #3 team 50 states and maybe win a conference championship ?
I know one coach in the NW4A who wouldn't roll over...

With 40 scouts in attendance and a conference championship on the line, this was a terrible decision.
Runion had alot to gain in draft status and little to lose if he was 100%.
The chances that ACR and SC will even meet in the playoffs with the expanded format is remote, so I'm not buying the reason.

    not pitching runion

i could see if you were fighting in your confrence for the last playoff berth and wanted to make sure you won against other competition to secure that spot maybe but that is not the case. its not like south hasnt seen runion before.

Maybe, just maybe, the reason that the fans arent biting each others heads off is that maybe, just maybe, they respect the talent on both sides of the plate.... I would say, if SC is ranked #3 in the country, there arent to many teams that are "evenly matched" to them, wouldnt you?

And your response would be what if Runion had thrown and, for some reason, we had lost????? Haley was 4-0 on the season - why not try something different - and as someone pointed out - SC has seen Runion several times by now.... No dis to Runion - he's an extremely good pitcher and very possibly couldve gotten the job done.... Maybe we'll find out in Asheville if he throws then.... Mixing the pitching up wasn't such a bad idea - our relief pitcher struck out 3 of the 4 of SCs top batters. Had a ball been caught in LF, the inning mightve been over with only 1 run scoring and the game not done in five. But thats not the way the cards played out. We did not concede a championship - we lost a game. Let's see, SC lost last year against AC, was it, to lose the conference championship???? Let's not get so far ahead of ourselves here. Maybe ACR's coach was trying a different tact.... maybe he had a different idea in mind - maybe the idea didn't work out like he anticipated....

Whatever the case, anything can happen in baseball and it ain't over til it's over.

    It's over, believe me.
When a team tied for first and another one, just a game back won't throw their ace for first place, the fat lady is singing.
With your logic, I guess SC should have pitched Zach Brown since ACR has seen so much of Bumgarner.
When fans know one team isn't taking their best shot, theres not much point in getting all jacked up. You are mistaking respect for indifference.
