I dunno, it may be I'm just too competitive and I would be excited having the opportunity to beat the 3rd rank team in the country. It's also the type game that with a win, you can build on (especially a team's confidence).

Now having said that, I am not trying to take away the ability of the pitcher that started. It's just that I'm not going to bring my pistol to a gun fight....I'm bringing my bazooka!

    The real reason

    that South Caldwell is not facing the conference contender's aces;
    SC stats thru 11 games
    Team ERA .86
    Team BA .368
    Team Slugging % .603
    Team on base % .512

Ok..let me stir the pot:stirthepot: ..remember, North Forsyth was 30-0 going into the state playoffs when they faced a young, junior dominated team.

There will be a game or two when SC will come out flat...every team does...it's those games that will be fun to see SC overcome them.

It is incredibly tough going through the whole season as the top ranked team in the state. It takes a lot of maturity (something that SC has)

I'm sure he will :laugh4: but it happens to every team. It's not something that you try to do. That doesn't mean that you won't win those games. Do you remember how your legion team was the 1st two games against Pineville? Flat, flat, flat...then you guys woke up. It happens

I'm not the least bit concerned about you guys. There is too much leadership

you see though thats the beauty of having one of the best pitching staffs in the country... you can come out flat and only score a couple of runs knowing that your pitching is going to hold the team to a low score still giving you a great shot at winning

Madison in the Field and at the Plate?

Madison's days "in the field" and "at the plate" are numbered. No one is going to draft him high and pay him dearly to risk putting him in harms way. He'll pitch and field a few comebackers and that's it. If I'm not mistaken isn't he a Right Hand Hitter? Even more reason he won't ever be hitting again! So, I hope he hits a few more "bombs" and has enough memories of his days as a position player to last him. Best of Luck to him. He sounds like a fine young man. He'll be on a fast track to the big leagues with some lucky club. Obviously UNC does not expect to see him in the fall. Let's be realistic. Not going to happen.

You are absolutely correct in everything stated...but he will play the college leaverage all the way to the 1st day of class or signed, whichever comes 1st (IMO). They (the family) have a strong idea what it will take to get Madison to sign, it's up to the clubs. Either way, he will be happy. Madison is an outstanding student, extremely young and won't mind living the college life vs the minor league buses to whatchamacallit, Idaho

There is a SC/ACR game report up on Baseball America's website.
It's mostly about MB, but they definitely noted that Runion didn't pitch.
If you have two Aflac All-American pitchers, with 40 scouts and a conference title on the line,
why not match them up ???
