Reason for Stadium Delays

From an email concerning camps from the coaching staff...

The project was delayed due to a bump in the project. Mariam Hayes give a kind gift and took the project from $2 million to $6 million (not sure she gave all of that). The stadium will be called The Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium.

From a more recent camp email...

1st game at new place - March 30 vs. UMASS
-Parts of the stadium will still be under contstruction, but the field area will be cleared and ready to play... chair backs should be in... it will be interesting.

May 11 - Stadium will be completed and Charlotte host St. Bonaventure that weekend.

Charlotte to Play First Home Game on Campus This Weekend
Niners Host Massachusetts for Important A-10 Series

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers will open up Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium this weekend for a three-game series against Atlantic 10 foe Massachusetts. Friday and Saturday first-pitch times are at 2 p.m., with Sunday beginning at noon.

When Are They Going To Finish??

It looks good. I'll have to check out a game when everything is finished. The 49er website says the photo gallery is updated. If is is, the most recent photos (with the scaffolding in the background) would appear to indicate the press box and other support facilities still aren't finished. The GC must have run out of brick.

 

Speaking of UNC vs Charlotte, the two are playing today in Chapel Hill. Unfortunately, Charlotte is not throwing its ace, Adam Mills. Hibbs decided to keep him for conference games this weekend.
