Wildman , this was the same score as last time but what a mess it almost became by coaches not covering all the bases at practice.from now own ,ALL CATCHERS WILL know every pitchers signs. Glad to have Coach Taylor back from Knee surgery. To explain to those who were not there , First thing bad was the game was rained out on thursday and it should not have been,last time it rained a game out for us was vs. KM at raliegh 0-0 in the 10th with a fresh pitcher in for SWR and KM's had to be getting tired with no one to replace her , but down came the rain and KM got the win in 6 more innings the next day,Bad thing #2 was our pitching coach could not be at the game because of a conflict at work because of the resceduled game , catcher and pitcher must now call ther own
pitches but Campbell and York play together on rage so they have done this before,working real good first two innings. Bad thing#3 ,York hurts her ankle sliding in to score and has to be taken behind the dugout for our third base coach, who is our team healer , see's to her .Head coach Taylor has to coach third while hopping on one leg,remember he just came back from knee surgery.BAD THING #4 ,replacement catcher does not know Campbells signs and therefor cannot catch her {to many combonation signs like inside drop,outside drop,drop curve and thats just dropballs to be able to expect the catcher to set up properly with only a couple minutes to learn it all} so we have to bring in a pitcher that has thrown to this catcher a couple years ago and the catcher can remember some of her signs,Maness and Berry are old rocket teammates,game finally starts again and Berry only remembers three signs and Maness has never called her own pitches and no body else knows her signs except the pitching coach who is not present ,Maness is starting to become unnerved
at the situation even to the point of calling time and walked up to the plate,we thought to discuss something with the catcher,but it was to ask the umpire what was wrong with the previous pitch! York wants back in the game in the 6th,she's our senior ,so we oblige her and also put Campbell back in to pitch and all is well as we go to 1 out in the 7th with a 6-0 lead and then with an 0-2 count the umpire decides that a back door curve from the lefty came around the back of the plate to land in the catchers glove in the middle of the plate waist high,thats exactly what he said,now the girl does have a good curve but i've never seen a pitch go sideways.well you know how many times a third strike not called will bite you,York calls outside corner fast ballwith 0-2 ? off end of the bat to right field,next batter swings at a drop and misses so she ask the catcher to throw another drop and she abliges ? , up the middle with two on now , next batter drives first pitch down third base line to bring 1 run across and back we go to Maness to finish this crazy game. thats the first run to cross the plate on Campbell this year and only one has crossed on maness this year . someone ask for DETAILS did'nt they? I hope the SWR vs. CC game lives up to the hype as people are already asking for advance seating tickets which is crazy for a softball game and the team moms are bringing in tents to add more consession room ,there's usually a good crowd at home games anyway, plus it's senior night

Great softball today at Raider Day festivities. I enjoyed the fellowship with North Iredell and Alexander Central fans. Good to see many of my softball friends there.

 

Hate I missed ya Cometfan......Saw JV coach and Coach Bolick..... great to see them again.......had to get away pretty quick post game....... GO AC.......Hope you guys win it all........

 

stickwolf, there was a good crowd and I didn't move around too much. I talked to Homerun most of the JV and Varsity games. I did talk to North's pitcher Mom and Dad for a while. I will get up with you another time in the Statesville or Taylorsville. Haven't seen a JV score, but here is the score I have. I hope this is right.

The AC jv's are awesome! I don't know many names, but #33 Tiffany Robinson hit a bomb down 3rd base line just missed be a homerun. Also their catcher #27 Chelsea Diamond is really good. Several others on the team really hit the ball well. Good pitcher also. I was told the pitcher had never took pitching lessons. WOW!!

easy there dogjaw! did you take a breath replaying this game? usually long posts don't peek my interest long enough to maintain ANY users attention. this one, however, was fun to read. i don't know the pitcher, but i do know of the catcher York with the cannon. where is she going to play in college? hang on to your seats TBR, my schedule puts me in your area from mid mar. to mid. may. somebody needs to find me a seat. i love talent! both teams, play safe.
