my hat is off to academic excellence before sports. also, why do parents seem never argue with the teachers that they are not giving enough homework or tests to better their child.:idee:

Wow!! I would hate to discuss playing time after every game. Some players got to sit some play. Coaches got to coach. Parents got to sit in stands and WATCH the game! Dont know the situation, but do know coaching is hard enough already!

Maybe the player and her Mom should try to schedule a meeting with the coach. I speak from experience when I say that the worst times to speak with a coach about your personal problem is either before or after practices and games. The reason being that at those times a coach has the team as their #1 priority. and cannot be expected to shift gears to a one on one with player and her family to talk about a problem that the coach may not even know about. Just my thoughts.

Dawgfan; I am aquainted with several of the families involved and will tell you the problems there go much deep than this one instance. This is a program that has had more problems than any I have ever heard of over the last year and a half. If it was only one player or nonstarters you could understand but it is not. At the AC game Friday I have never heard so many parents the that unhappy with how the program was being run. I feel sorry for the players they are some very good players and girls who have never had any problems before at all. I hope they can work things out over there for the players sake

That really is sad and I also hope something can be done to turn it around whatever "it" is

hey bigsbfan4u i play for sc and i remember that at the first of the season she said she would not discuss playing time with the parents. she didn't say she would not talk to the players about it. i went and talked to her and found out what she was looking for from me, and that is how i got to get in the game. she doesn't make the lineup by herself. all three coaches go over it until they all agree. i know this for a fact because i hear them on the bus to our games. when are you going to realize that there is always someone out there that is better than you. its your job to make sure you stay ahead of them and not let them out do you. not your parents. they don't goof off at practice, or at work. if they did i'm sure their boss would replace them. so stop you crying and do something about playing time yourself. i did.

I don't know of any coach that will discuss playing time. It's their team.
The better question to ask a coach is, "what areas do I have to work on to get better?"...that, they will discuss.

But to all of the players of HS sports. If you have a problem that you feel you need to discuss with the coach, go ask them, but don't have your parent present during these discussions. This is HS ball, not some Rec team. They will appreciate the maturity.

I can promise you this; for those that rely on their parents to bail them out of a tough situation....wait til you get to college. The first sound your parents will hear when trying to call the coach is "click"
