ok, he's 7 and it was coach-pitch but i had to share. third game of the season tonight. he whacked it clear into the outfield. i was coaching third, so i got to give him the green-light and high-five as he rounded the corner.

he said he couldn't stop smiling and as he went around third, his tooth stuck to his lip and didn't come unstuck until he tagged home. hah!

    proud papa here!

that's awesome! He'll remember that for the rest of his life. Especially seeing your reaction while rounding third.

Cool deal. Did he do a little hop or flip the bat away when he got it?

Congratulations. Enjoy every moment, including the tough days. One days you will even want the bad days back. It goes by quick.

    good deal Larry.

My daughter still has her first home run ball sitting in a little trophy. She was five, playing T-Ball in Pineville. I was driving back and forth to Greensboro in those days and just made it back in time. She was the only girl on the team and actually hit it to the outfield. The rest was the usual comedy of errors as she stopped on each base as the kids threw the ball around the field. She finally scored and you couldn't get the smile off her face if you tried. When the coach named her player of the game ( it was the first run the team had scored that year) and gave her the game ball I almost cried.

One of those moments you never forget. Right up there with the first fish they catch and the first time they ride a bike.

Now she's 15, is looking at colleges and starts her first job tomorrow. Man the years do go by fast.
