    Riverside/Rose

This was a game well played by two teams. It is unfortunate that the tournament may be defined by the ending of one game. Riverside competed well in the tournament and ran into a top notch pitcher in the final game. That's what is important. The other aspects and opinions of the game may vary depending upon which side of the dugout a spectator sat behind.

How word of this discussion board has spread. To answer the question "are they a bunch of punks or just not use to gettin it handed it to them," no that doesn't appear to be the case. Riverside sits precariously atop the PAC 6 and utilizes the pitching arms of a freshman and a sophmore in their small starting rotation. Most wins for this team, as others in the PAC 6, have been hard earned and more often than not close wins. Due to youth and a roster which pales in comparison to those such as "powerhouse South Granville," this team must play team ball to chalk up a win. With a team led by only three starting seniors and two strong junior players- hats off to their accomplishments thus far. I know that the next few weeks will be a roller coaster for the entire Pac6.

As the parent of a player who has competed against Riverside and played with individual members of this team, I can personally state that there aren't any punks on this team- Thankfully, I haven't seen any punks in the entire Pac-6! The decision to shake hands or not was not a decison made by the players. It is my understanding that the players were told to hit the right field fence and did as instructed.

Hats off to dDad02 for not partaking in a verbal battle in this discussion board-

    My two cents

First of all, let me say that I am not a Riverside parent, but am very familiar with the program, it's coach and have coached many of it's players. I can state emphatically, that they are a class program with a well respected disciplined coach and very respectful players. They win with class and they lose with class, period. To insinuate that a Riverside player would intentionally throw two balls in the opposing dugout because they were "yelling"? Well, let's just say, I actually laughed out loud when I read that! That's typical of many immature comments you read on other boards but seldom TBR. I've got to believe that if Riverside chose not to shake hands after the game, it certainly had nothing to do with the 9-0 loss but rather a disagreement it what they felt was poor conduct from the home team. Running wind sprints after the game is a regimen that always occurs after a Riverside game, win, lose or draw.

I am not familiar with the Rose players but am well aware of their outstanding success in all sports. They certainly seem talented enough to win without the extra activities. Congratulations on their many championships.

As for Roserampants05, I can certainly see why the word "banned" frequents many of your post. Why even come to this topic and ask this question? It's obviously a childish and feeble attempt to stir the pot.

I agree!! Coach Blowe does a fine job at Riverside and I respect him as a coach. I also have the utmost respect for Coach Vincent and his program at Rose. I have known Coach Vincent for many years and know that he runs a first class program. I was not at the game but I can say that Riverside has never not shaken hands with us, no matter the outcome. There has to be more to this than has been mentioned so all I will say is that this does not need to be blown all out of proportion with a bunch of worthless name calling. For anybody to call names shows ignorance/stupidity and a total lack of class.

    I was not there, but!

There have been games in the past when it has gotten heated for whatever reason and the best thing to do is just not have any contact after the contest is over. This is a decision by the coaching staff and never by the players. If coach Blowe decided to tell his guys to head to the line and get in their running then that is his decision and I have no problem with it. Riverside has outstanding young men and a great coaching staff that is respected by everyone they play. I understand the pride that you have in Rose, it is one of the top schools in the state year in and year out. You have a coach that is first class and basically a legend in NC HS baseball.

My son has played with, and against several of the kids that play for Rose. The kids, and parents that we know are good folks. The players at Rose take pride in their baseball program, and love to cheer for their teammates. It's one of those places that you better be prepared to listen to avid fans. If the students set up in left field at Guy Smith Stadium, you can count on lots of noise. They love to emulate the antics of the, "jungle" at ECU. While the left fielders can get very grating to the visitors, the dugout is just loud. I have never heard name calling, or caustic barbs hurled at individuals. Having said all this, I was not at the game, so I can't say what occurred. But, for Roserampant05 to come on here, and try to degrade the Riverside program for what he deems to be unsportsmanlike conduct is like Anna Nichole accusing one's mother of being a slut. I've been reading this kid's posts for a couple of years now, and it's worn very thin. An apt description ,heard from a 93 year old lady when talking about a suitor to one of her grandaughters comes to mind. The suitor was described as ,"peeweasly & insignificant".
