Communication is the key to success!

My DD plays HS ball and TB.

She is going to a D1 school on efforts ALL by her self! E-mails!! e-mailing Travel ball schedules to college coaches and telling TB coaches when a college coach was coming to watch. In my DD case it was ALL travel ball and the travel ball coaches helped tremendously!

The TB coach made sure she played and was seen and he also made it a point to speak to the college coach when he could, answering any questions or giving comments.

She has signed with a D1 college and will start in fall of 2007.

Her photo in the paper did NOT even include the HS coach or the HS athletic director they didnt even have a clue she had signed.

Market yourself....... Let the college know who you are... Go to the camps of the colleges you are interested in, that way the college sees you for 2 or 3 days and gets to know you, at your expense but it is worth it!

    playing to be seen!

Playing to be seen is about 85% of the reason my DD's play travel ball TO BE SEEN!!! Maybe I am not understanding your comment, isn't that the reason most girls play travel ball for exposure!??? TO BE SEEN. Agreed, the girl needs to market herself, and Needs to be seen playing travel Ball.

I should have made myself more clear. What I was meaning was if you think you'll go there and just some random coach will find you you are wrong. If you have a coach coming to look at you then you will be fine

Colleges will attend showcase tournaments to watch certain players, but they can also take a look at others. I have seen it happen before. I know 3 players that are playing college ball simply because a college coach came to watch another member of their team. The coaches were impressed by what they saw and approached the players.
Not everyone is going to play for a D1 college. Contact the DII and DII coaches. Two year colleges with a good team are also a way to get a start. The most important consideration, though, is the education you will receive.

at first i thought my dd had to be on a ranked hs team but after asking alotttttttt of questions, if shes on a very good tb team playing showcase tournaments it dosent matter about ranking or quality of program at hs. still needs to promote.:52:

    my thoughts

how on earth could a college coach find the "best" players by logging in to HS only? 90% of the "best" don't have the luxury of playing HS for a CC, BUTLER, ND, LANEY, WFR. but you can't overlook the fact that the ranked schools pack a punch. i'll bet no one in this forum will argue this, we could take kids from non ranked HS teams and beat the ranked ones. now, now, now, folks listen here, i'm not knocking the best HS in NC, i'm saying that theres bookoos of talent on unranked teams as well. we all know that. isn't that the impetus os TB. play safe

    silver tongue guru my friend

now now now my new friend, i see that by using the punctuation mech. of "sooooooo", gives me chills. really guru, good job. as for east teams pal, well, i don't live in new york. for that matter, i expressed my opinion without any interest to east or west players. you make us all at TBR sit on the edge of our seats with your uht-oh posts. thank you, you have a gift of vast knowledge of fastpitch AND a GREAT way displaying it. keep up your interest in the game. you're good. play safe.
