    Holt throws No-Hitter!!

West Forsyth defeated East Rowan tonight 3-0 in a key CPC matchup. Greg Holt threw a complete game no-hitter striking out 11 and allowing 2 walks and 1 error. West was led by Ryan Todd(solo HR), Chris Sanders 1 rbi' and Holt who went 2-3 with a double. Great pitching matchup with two guys who may not even pitch in college. Ross Steedly (ER) UNCC and Holt (WF) UNC threw no no's threw the first 3 innings. Both pitchers in control. Sanders had the big hit in the 4th driving in Holt (Taylor Barbour running) and Garrison Lassiter along with an error plated the runs. Todd's homerun in the 5th added another run. It was a well played game by both teams with pitchers dominating the game. West moves to 14-2 and 5-1 in conference. East Rowan I think have 3 losses in the conference. West will play RJR tommorow at West and then a big matchup Tuesday at North Davidson.

AC Reynolds 14, TC Roberson 4

Interesting game over in Fairview on Reynolds homefield tonight. Congratulations to the Rockets on capturing their second straight county championship!

Reynolds definitely proved to be the better team and capitalized on numerous Roberson errors and miscues in the first three innings to build a 5-1 lead; then cut to 5 - 3 lead. Numerous scouts were on hand to watch Sam Runion, who had some pretty nasty breaking stuff working at times. However, it did not appear that he was the sharp Sam Runion of last year tonight - at least I didn't see anything that resembled a low to mid-90's fast ball, and Roberson had spells in the game where hitters were making fairly good contact as they did in the first game between the two squads.

Before the game begin, someone commented that homeplate umpire Leatherwood was going to toss Roberson's first year coach out of the game, and that's exactly what he did in the fourth inning on a bizarre play - or call, I should say. Paepelow for the Rockets hit a long drive to right-center field - to the fence. Once the Roberson team started to enter the dugout, the umpire evidently called "catcher interference" and sent the Rams back out on the field; the call was never explained to the crowd. Anyhow, Leatherwood took the opportunity with whatever he said to infuriate Coach Pressley to toss him from the game. Numerous calls were blown after that - and the umpires seemed confused - having to huddle time after time to make calls, etc., after the play was over. This has been a trend this week in the tournament as well - several North Henderson players on Monday were called out simply because the umpires were out of position. It basically appeared that the game had passed the homeplate ump by because of his age, and I guess that it is difficult to get good umpires to ump the games - at least around here.

Anyhow, the umping didn't decide the game - Hinson also looked very good for the Rockets, particularly on the base paths. Good luck to the Rockets the rest of the way!

Weird game. Long game. Ragsdale was in control the whole way, jumping out to a 10-0 lead after 2. Another cold, windy game. Seems it's been this way the last 3 weeks. I'll post some stats later.
