    South Granville vs Orange

This game was played Friday night at Orange HS and I didnt get in untill late so Im just getting around to posted on it.

    SG 03 01 00
    Orange 01 03 04

    WP- Luck 7ip 3hits 1run 15k's 1bb 2hbp
LP- Manzulich SP? 5ip 0 hits 3runs all unearned BB? K8

Strange strange game. We had no business winning this game. LHP Manzulich SP? Stayed on the outside of the plate and worked a good change up and pitched outstanding for Orange for five innings. Only a couple of balls were hit hard and Orange made the plays. In the 4th inning Perry walked. He stole second base. May walked and then the crazy stuff happened. Darroach hit a ball that looked like it hit his foot in the box. It dribbled to the Pitcher or catcher I cant remember and they tried to get the force at 3b. The ball went into lf and Perry scored and May went to 3b. Then the next batter K's on a pitch in the dirt but the catcher throws it into rf and the batter reaches goes to 2b and May scores. At the end of the inning we scored three runs struck out four times with two guys reaching on balls in the dirt and we did not hit a ball out of the infield. So going into the fifth we are up 3-0 and do not have a hit. Orange scores one in the fifth and we get a single from Darroach in the 6th on the reliever to break up the no hitter. The kid kept us off balance with alot of off speed stuff and worked the outside corner very effectively. May hit a couple of shots but both were fielded cleanly for outs. The only hit was a good shot by Darroach. Luck was outstanding striking out 15 and was in the low 90's all night long. Orange earned their run on a nice dbl off the wall to left field I dont have the kids name. This was one we had no business winning but we will take it. The LHP Manzulich is going to be a good one. He lacks velocity right now but he can pitch.

    - Those crafty lefties drive you nuts

LOL @ Braves comment "Those crafty lefties drive you nuts."

Every time I see or hear that I can't help but think why are there never any crafty righties? HehHeh.

Actually, I know one that has been very successful in every level he has pitched.........Robert Woodard.

But, you are right. You never hear the term crafty righties.

    OHS v. SG

Sophomores Jake Manzulich (5 IP, 0 hits) and Joe Winecoff (2 IP, 1 hit) did pitch a very good game against a very strong South Granville offense.

Chris Luck was outstanding again. He has thrown 14 innings against Orange in the last week and given up one run on 5 hits.

Freshman shortstop Braden Reitano had the RBI double for Orange.

    Thanks Dawg

Im glad you mentioned that freshman shortstops name he is a player. Luck came inside with a good 90 plus mph fb and the kid turned on it and hit it off the lf wall. Plus this kid seems to make every play in the field. He is going to be a very good player. The LHP Jake Manzulich is going to be very good as well I believe he is an 09. He was very good in this game thats for sure. We did find a way to win. But I left there feeling like we lost and we stole something. After the game we met in lf and I told the guys not to be surprised if we got stopped by the police on I-85 on the way home. They looked at me and said "Why coach"? I said "Because we just stole something". Orange is so well coached in every phase of the game. They really know how to run the bases and understand the game. Sometimes you just get lucky and thats what we were in this one.
