Titans defeat North Davidson 8-5

West Forsyth defeated North Davidson in Welcome tonight 8-5 to move to 17-2 and 7-1 in the conference. Greg Holt pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 runs and striking out 11 or 12. Titans were led by John Stamper 2 2b's, Chris Sanders 2 rbi's, Sammy Lucas- 2 hits, Matt Sapp 1 rbi, Ryan Todd 1 hit and rbi. West Forsyth played outstanding defense along with timely hitting to defeat the Black Knights. Zach White pitched for North Davidson and gave up 8 runs ( 6 or 7 earned) and looked late in the game like a pitcher who had just thrown 130 pitches on Friday. I hate to say anything derogatory but I can't believe that Zach would throw 130 pitches on Friday and come back on Tuesday to throw at least another 120 pitches. That is insane and I really felt bad for him late in the game. He was laboring but the bullpen was empty. He is an outstanding competitor but I would love to see him pitch in the next level, but that is alot of pitches on a 17 year old arm. Holt carried a 2 hit shutout into the 7th but tired as well as he threw 90 pitches on Thursday. Ben Redmon hit a 2 run HR with 2 outs in the 7th. Wesley McBride came on to relief Holt and got the final out after some scary times for West fans. (tying run at 1st base. West will play home vs. Mt. Tabor on Friday at 7 pm.

This was a great high school baseball game to watch. Great pitching and solid defense by both teams. Too bad I had to coach in it and couldn't really enjoy it...haha.

RR is now 8-8 overall and 5-0 in the NCC.
