Officiating

My 11 year old daughter has played some sports, nothing serious, and it breaks my heart when parents act like Jacka***es to a guy who is getting paid a pitance to spend his time to enable young kids to play a game.

 

You guys need to stop crying and teach your players the right way to play the game. Teach them that.


THE UMPIRE IS ALWAYS RIGHT

 

The umpire/ref can be wrong. But what good does it do to call him names. Teach your kids to respect people and deal with disputes in a mature manner.

 

I really think that if an umpire makes a bad call & both teams can agree that it was bad, the coach for the team that the call was against can go up to the umpire and smack him/her upside the head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

how about if all "three or even four" Agree it was wrong, smile........

 

Had the same thing happen -- Ball to 3rd baseman, Umpire called foul ball. 3rd threw to first anyway, umpires consulted and changed to fair ball and girl was called out.

 

Here's another

Ok, here's another classic. Coach calls timeout to visit the mound. Blue behind the plate, let's call him "Hollywood" feels enough time has passed and without approaching the pitching circle, calls out "Let's go Ladies" from behind the plate. 5 seconds later he laughs and calls Ball 1. 3 Seconds later he laughs again and calls ball 2. The coach, not hearing this, walks away and the crowd has to tell the coach that there are 2 balls on the batter. "Hollywood" then banishes the coach to the dugout for the remainder of the game for questioning his decision. Next inning, he sees the coach, one step out of the dugout opening, looking at the rulebook, he yells out "while you're looking up the rules, why don't you look up what it means to be in the dugout before you watch the rest of the game from the parking lot".

Earlier this season, "Hollywood" had a discussion w/ a coach during a timeout about a pitcher who was quick pitching, batter clearly had her hand up. Hollywood's response: "Until this hitter consistently hits 'em into the pine trees, she doesn't get special treatment". Ok, that's fair.

"Hollywood" is out there for himself, no question about that. From attempting to entertain the crowd between innings to his sarcastic remarks.

"NO BAHDY" should have to deal w/ him.

 

I know him very well, and he is pretty much a jerk, seems like he does it just be seen!!

 

There can be only one Hollywood and I'm sure I know who your talking about. We had issues with him in two middle school games last year and went to the AD. He won't be calling anymore of our games...Even if he is a legend in he's own mind

 

Probably the best way to get the point across!
