Read 3Play's post at the top of page 2. Yes, that is still alot of pitches on 3 days rest. But this is not something that ND makes a habit of doing. They were playing for the Conference championship last night. So this was an exceptional situation.

I'll bet Greg Holt has pitched on a day or 2 rest in an AAU situation or state tournament along the way too. If it happens next month on the way to a title, I won't fault Coach Pope. Once in a while is not going to damage a kid.

Messer is a great pitcher and 9-0 is tough, but Jake Buchanan of North Gaston has a 10-0 mark this year, probably the best W-L I have heard of.

Thanks Rocket for the info. I wasn't aware of anyone having a better record than 9 wins. I was looking at ncpreps.com and I know the stats are not always sent in by all the teams.

    pitch counts

Pitch counts are important and coaches and scorekeepers that are supposed to be keeping pitch counts and letting the coaches know are just as important. I can tell you from experience. Coaches want to win games and will do whatever to win the game. My son had labrum surgery due to an excessive pitch count while a bench scorekeeper and the coach felt like they needed to pitch him. Threw 110 pitches on a cold April night and that was it. Cost him a college career. So you are kidding yourself if you think it is ok to pitch more than 100 pitches at this age.
Look yourself in the mirror and really tell me you think a kid can do this. I will show you all kind of documentation otherwise. I was oblivious to this before his surgery but I can show you case after case what excessive pitch counts do to young men's arms.

    Providence 14 Southpoint 1

Greg Lawson launched a Grandslam in the bottom of 4th as the Panthers routed Southpoint 14-1 behind the 3 hit pitching of DJ McMurchie. Providence jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Will Helms led off the game with an opposite field HR and two batters later David Mailman crushed a line-drive HR over the RF fence that was sure to please the scouts in attendance. CA Clayton, Michael Hollis, Evan Wilkinson, Kyle Kaiser and Will Clayton all had big hits as the Panther bats were just too much for the Raiders.

White from north threw under 100 pitches in both outings against tabor and west. Its not a big deal because i know for fact that norths 2 pitchers have thrown plenty of games on 3 days rest especially in legion ball in a 4 man rotation while playing games everyday. Its not like its the first time this kid has ever done it.
